Icarus

Beginning game loop pretty boring. Hope it gets better.
Look for oxidite > chop a tree > look for oxidite > pic up rocks > look for oxidite > Kill and animal for food > look for oxidite > Drink water > look for oxidite > cook food > look for oxidite > fight off wolf > Look for oxidite > skin wolf > look for oxidite > build a small shack so your oxidite makers have protection > look for oxidite > Stab a fish > look for oxidite > cook a fish > look for oxidite > hide from a light rain so you don't die > look for oxidite > die from suffocation because you couldn't make enough oxygen out of oxidite.

*Sigh*

Thanks for your feedback here. Some survival game systems and mechanics can seem pretty mundane due to there being linear human needs of surviving. However, if you stick around for our next beta weekend - storms will be at full functionality and will add a different dynamic to your current playstyle. You will need to stay on your toes and think ahead.

In future weekends, you will get to experience new biomes, and faction missions! Icarus is an evolving world, and gradually over time will become more and more exciting / frightening.

I hope it's awesome! However, the constantly running out of oxygen is frustrating and kinda ruining the experience. It feels like the main factor in playing the game for me... everything else is secondary to trying not to suffocate. Would appreciate a way to help alleviate the constant need for oxygen. Or maybe fix the oxygen producing items if they are bugged. I heard a couple people say they don't work unless you put 50 oxidite in and let it reach 0 before using it. That might explain why everything seemed O2-centric.

I'll admit when I first started playing Icarus (as many of you are) there is a bit of a learning curve with all the things you need to pay attention to. What I usually do is mine a bunch of oxite straight away, so I've got a nice stack when I need it. Then I can concentrate on other things like getting food and building shelter. Solo play is punishing in this regard, so if you have been playing alone - I feel you! However, playing with friends you can issue out different "roles" or "responsibilities" like getting someone to mine oxite for everyone, and someone else to go hunting, or make a cabin.

There is a lot to take in, especially before storms next weekend.

I've taken on your feedback, and will pass it onto the team :)

I just played a couple hours... it looks great, I like the mining effects, the skinning effects, the weather and day and night cycle are quite challenging, but the one thing i find intolerable is losing all my stuff if I die... I'm playing solo, so there needs to be someway for solo players to recover their gear if they go unconscious, I tried letting it sit there wondering if my guy would wake up, but after a few minutes i re spawned... only to realise I lost almost an hours worth of weapons and inventory... That really pissed me off, I don't like wasting time, and that was a huge waste. It doesn't make any sense either, my house is still there but bag of rocks has evaporated?... pls fix quick! even just for solo players.

Yes, seriously. Meanwhile it doesn't matter because OP just wants to exaggerate how he has to hide from light rain so he wont die. Welcome to the educated human race of today, go on forums and make a rant post because you couldn't figure it out or bother to find out on the world wide web. Who would have thought that crafting would be important in a survival craft game.

reality: you'll craft some armor pieces that'll negate weather and until you have those you'll just have to run back to and wait in your shelter.

read: there'll be a little more content than there is now on launch.
different color biomes with more poor-AI NPCs;
maybe some randomly found NPC that'll give you a quest to bring them 100 iron ore or kill 5 frost zone bears and you'll get 200 x in return - le epic faction missions.
also the game will be basically incomplete on launch and in dire need of more development time, so i'll just say it's an "evolving world" and it will "gradually become more and more exciting over time"

Look at the other games of the company here, then you can guess what will happen in the next 1-2 years.

What? Positive Reviews and ongoing Updates? Does not look to bad to me.
Just as a side note, there are games, that are in EA for way longer. The Forest was in EA for years, 7 Days To Die is still in EA (since 2013).

At least you found a game loop... I logged in and found no goals or purpose to any of it, not even a desire to unlock more (boring) stuff in the talent/tech trees.
