We have not released what the monetized content will be yet, but there will be a tonne of free to play content, don't worry!
The best way to ask questions and get answers is on the Icarus Discord:

There's an interview with the developer somewhere, that gives a hint on what is and isn't...
pretty sure this game was made by rocket the guy who MADE dayz, and jumped ship
This is probably the most realistic answer, you can play a decent amount on a few (or even just one) planet to see if you like the game and then there will be DLC maps that are a bit more exciting you need to pay for. I also feel like this would be a more fairer way of doing things too, paying for maps isn't as scummy as paying for items that end up being direct upgrades IMO. Even for Co-op PVE.
Do yourself a huge favour and give people the option to pay for a base version of the game, with no forced slot purchasing etc. There's nothing more annoying than lots of micro-transactions that end up costing more than simply buying the game. I'd be happy to pay a base sum that's a reasonable amount for a game of this type.
If you know that people's convenience is going to be affected by a problem you create by designing it into the game itself, with the solution to the problem being to pay money, it comes across as manipulative. I'm not saying that's your intention, but this type of micro-transaction is frowned upon... Not really ideal if you are trying to achieve the positive vibes you mentioned.
Anyway, I'm very intrigued with your vision and look forward to seeing what it will bring to this genre. Good luck!
What I can say is that I will not approve a pricing model/structure that I am not 100% satisfied works well with the game. And I have complete control over that decision.
Over the coming weeks we will continue to listen and, at times, liaise directly with the community about the game - including how it is priced and released.
Thankyou for replying, that sounds very positive. I'll look out for any upcoming news.
Please don't make it timed based for single player.
And how about we pay a fair price to test it now?
Over there all good, it seems to me that people also have to earn money for their work like everyone else.
What I would not like is that you have to pay to see the entire game, I mean to pay to go to another planet or not be able to get an item of the game that can give you advantages etc ...
If it is a store style similar to DBD, WOT, PUBG or even Astroneers, I would not care at all, but what Elite Dangerous and conan exiles did to release dlc's at new game prices, that did not make me very funny.
RocketWerkz are doing a great job with Stationeers, I support you with your dlc's, and I think this game can be up to the best survival pve. We'll see what happens, it's talking just to talk, everything will be seen.
