Completed the game within ~12 hours, combat is shallow and does not have much to it. Gets repetitive quick with low replay value.
Wait for sale.
I mean you probably just completed the main story at the minimum level required and thats definitely not completing the game, since this isnt a story driven game. The bosses get new attacks and patterns as the difficutly rises (as in same boss at lvl 20 has diffrent attacks than the same boss lvl 90) and you also keep getting different gear till lvl 100 (and also theres optional lvl100 bosses etc).
Plus finishing the "main" story at lvl 50 you only get the bad ending and thats with only one character. The point of this game is to get to lvl 100 and get the lvl 100 gear and fight those bosses etc. And also if you finish the game with all the classes(only the lvl 50 quest required) you also get the true ending.
Ive sunk 25h in a few days with just one character and im is lvl 60. Getting to 100 takes a long ass time and getting the endgame drops also takes a LOT of runs and is also very challenging lategame. And then im gonna level up at least 2 more classes that i like.
So overall if youre a megaman-type game fan (both in playstyle and difficutly) and also like grinding this game has a lot to offer imo. If not then id suggest to stay away from it as you will probably quit before you really finish it.
The game definitely has a lot of content to go through, if you're familiar with Odin Sphere or Dragon's Crown then you'll know exactly what you're getting into, this is pretty much the same deal
If you're going for a one and done experience, the game will be rather short, as one of the strongest points of DMTD lies on it's replay value. Upon replay the maps will be the same but you'll notice that your gameplay experience will be widely different according to your character and partners, not to mention that there's a certain metroidvania element to it and you will be able to access different routes depending on your characters
And most importantly, the game is meant to be played with friends. If you're thinking on playing it by yourself I'd advice against buying the game, I think most people that gave it a bad review probably went through the whole thing in singleplayer and while it's still fun, it can be a bit monotonous if you don't have a party dynamic to spice things up
Also kind of a drag having to have guides open all the time due to progress being hard locked by gear that rarely drops in specific missions. :x
