UFO 50
What is the deal with the terminal?
I figured it was like a game genie letting you put in codes to get cheats. I looked up if the terminal cheats blocks achievements, possible codes and where to find them, but there's people talking about a 51st game, hidden story bit and such. Are all the stuff with the terminal just optional lore stuff that's not needed for all achievements, or for full 100% do you have to explore the secrets the terminal holds?

There is an achievement for entering literally anything into the terminal that works. Something like half the games give you codes for the terminal in the credits or similar, so this isn't hard. Every single other achievement is related to completing games.
Depends how you define full 100%. If you only consider achievements as full 100%, then you only need to get the single achievement for entering any working code. But if you want to, you know, actually SEE all the content in UFO 50, then you'll need to dig a bit deeper and look into the 51st game stuff.
Generally I care more about gameplay then lore and such, and with my adhd I can't focus on deciphering hidden story let alone put the pieces together to understand what the story is. If I'm curious about the lore, I'll look up a YouTube video but for my own time playing, I'm gonna focus on the achievements

If you use the cheat codes the game only disables saving for that session, so you can't progress or get gold/chery while using them. They're supposed to be fun, not punishing. Pursuing the major rabbit hole doesn't give an achievement.

I think the intended progression for the secret stuff is this:
-You beat some games, see a cheat code in the credits. Easily missable because people like skipping credits. There's also a lot in the Steam guide that I don't know where people found them, cause I watch the credits sometimes and don't see anything.
-Now you know the format of terminal codes. You could experiment at this point, because there are commands which allow you to do mundane things like view the info tabs for each game but through the terminal, and I don't think a player would know this unless they were spurred by their own curiosity.
-Now this is where the secret starts. In the "history" tab for Night Manor you see two words connected by a hyphen, hinting to the player that it's a code. It gives you a clue where to go next.
-Everything is simple to figure out from that point, as long as you solve that one clue.

(There's even codes in the patch notes sometimes, you just need to look for the ABCD-EFGH format)
