changing class
i was playing as a healer with my friend on the NA server we got tp AL 14 and he's quit the game i been playing solo for a week now as a healer and it kinda sucks how costly would it be to change class?

Normally i wouldn't bat an eye and just make a new character but i have invested credits into costumes in the store and for whatever reason they are character bound.

Well having put a lot of thought into this myself, as a lone healer. I will be making another character as soon as the one I made on a different server the test out which server I like freaking deletes :/.

Though in your case .. if you're willing .. Just do you Hiram dailies you get free gear there you can use for a second build and just invest into that.

It only costs a gold to switch out a class at lv 55. There is an achievement that gives you the archemaster title for lving all classes to 50.
After 55 classes don't gain experience so switching them out to get experience on another class during crafting or non pvp stuff is a good way to work toward archemaster.
Switching classes before your character lv is 55 can leave you abit behind in a main class so I would wait untill then to switch, if your after archemaster.

There's really no reason to ever roll a new toon unless you want to be able to use multiple jobs at the same time. Like if you had a stoneworker/trader maxed, you'd probably want to make your leatherworker on a new character. But just to change class? Might as well just pick a new skillset while keeping one or two high level skills active. In legacy I started with vitalism/songcraft/auramancy, but auramancy wasn't helping much so I switched to stealth. It didn't take much to level that third skill back up. I did it mostly just by spending labour and fighting in hasla.

anyone explain the gear aspect of this? im kinda new, i thought we get 1 set that we can upgrade since it seems the awakening scrolls and infusions are not infinite, how is it he is supposed to have 2 separate builds? unless you guys are saying he should redo all his gear as well?

By the time you're high enough level to want to change classes, you should have enough gold so you can just buy more gear. Or make more gear. The basic free gear you get from questing isn't even the best you can get. It's just convenient.

The crafted stuff can become just as powerful.

If its just changing class within the same role then its nothing much.

If you gonna change roles, i.e. from healer to ranged dps or mage etc, then you've got ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of work to do. Imo gear is more restrictive in AAU than in vanilla before hiram gear. In vanilla, crafting is a booming industry and crafted gear readily available for purchase. You can easily switch roles. Yea theres the gold cost but its usually a non issue if you diligently do your gold farming activities, in fact most are reasonably priced except top tier ones. You can sell you old gear too so you dont spend much on a new set. Hiram killed crafting and the new stats system basically locks players to initial roles.

-You can regrind hiram gear and systhensis and awaken. Imo, just restart on a new account
-Use crafted gear instead but its expensive and very inaccessible this early in server lifespan. Hiram made delphinad and below obsolete so you'd need ayanad.
-Change to mage role(im assuming you are cloth) and just reroll your stats. Dont have to get new hiram set for the most part(you'd need to get new wep)
-Make do with pve gear from dungeons and bosses, they may not be as strong as hiram but set bonuses are good.

You can easily get an ayanad set with blue salt bonds. There's no reason to roll a whole new character and go through the cycle of being poor again when you can just make MORE gold while getting your second armor set.

yeah i bit the bullet and made a second character it killed me a bit as i had bought some costumes off the MTX shop with real money for my healer and have no interest in buying a second account.

but i wasn't having fun with the pvp as a lone healer in cloth gear, i have around 2.5k gold on my healer which is a head start in a way once i hit 55 but i would still need to do dailies and such for them scrolls.
