Swap builds got an absolutely gigantic buff this patch with items (offensive wheel is bonkers), but in general, swap skills are some of the strongest skills everyone should take advantage of and the 20 shield on swap can save lot of HP in a clutch.
The Ring is an absolutely insane item with really no reason not to take for any build as it's really for every build (treasure and mutant are good inscriptions as well).
And I see! I'll have to find some skulls that would work well for that then!
And that's what I thought, I just wanted to get confirmation lol
Is there a place I can look up info if I need it? I skimmed over the first wiki I saw but it seemed to be a bit out of date?
I think bleed/poison/burn are kind of weak, even after the update. They take too much investment (2 items minimum) to really come online, and it just really doesn't do that much damage for the investment. Burn in particular gets really good at 4 items, but it feels bad vs bosses imo.
Skulls that are really good for winning runs (no particular order): Shield, Frost, WW, Alchemist, Reaper, Ghoul, Berserker, Predator, Thief
Skulls I find very fun to play: Lich, Warlock, Gambler
As NeonRed said, The Ring is a super good item and usable by anyone.
The Solar Sword/Lunar Ring combo is really strong too. They combine into 1 super amped up item when you get both of them.
Warrior's Pauldrons is a good defensive item on it's own.
Yeah the Wiki is several patches out of date. Right now there was just a very large update, so finding info is going to be difficult. Everyone's trying new things out.
Edit: Bleed is really good on sword skull. The tetanus buff along with all the extra procs makes it pretty decent.
*Water Skull, Arclitch, Gambler, Rockstar & Ent are all both incredibly strong & easy to use
*Skeleton Sword, Prisoner, Warrior, Werewolf, Berserker, & Samurai, all have ridiculous damage potential but are more challenging to play.
*Frost skull, Skeleton Shield, Ghoul, and Alchemist are super easy to win with but don't always have overwhelming offensive power unless you get the right items/moves.

As for how the new debuffs work, follow these rules.
* Poison builds are amazing if you are running a physical skull and you can find a reliable way of inflicting the debuff.
*Flame builds are good if you are running a Magic skull and you can find a reliable way of inflicting the debuff.
*Bleed/Wound is absurd on Skeleton Sword but doesn't work on anyone else
*Don't bother with the Ice or Stun inscriptions in their current state but feel free to pick up a stun/freeze themed item if you are running a skull that can take good advantage of it.
