too much luck, not enough skill.
why is so much of the gameplay RNG based?
how far til the camp? RNG
what attack with the boss use? RNG
which room is behind the same type of door? RNG

Also, the first boss is unfair, it fires a homing undestroyable fireball then chugs heals while you dodge it

?????
I did 1 run where the squire kills me.
next run, i make it through to the third boss completely blind.

the RNG is all that matters.

yeah, no it requires lots of skill the bosses can obliterate you its not much about luck but its not even required, its more about how fast you learn how good you are at learning attacks and what skulls you like, every skull is good as long as its a skull you like using and every item is good as long as you use it in a build that it works well with.

learning bosses and slowly but steadily upgrading your traits. i have not yet understood how much meaning the message upon loosing actual mean, as in, whether the enemies actually grow stronger in stats for lost rounds.

stop disregarding legitimate feedback as trolling?
people said my "Achievements" mean it's not heavy RNG?

I don't even know what the second or third boss do, all i did was mash attack til they died because i got good RNG :steamsad:

I don't think the game should be changed other than maybe an extra room before the boss and less "broken" doors forcing you to rooms that aren't worth entering.

oh this isn't my first roguelike, which is why it's immediately obvious how heavy this game depends on RNG.

even Dead Cells is technically "harder" than this game, but is much more forgiving because you can block, dodge and stagger enemies.

You can block dodge and stagger enemies in this game too :D

Then you should know this game is a bunch of trial and error, by the time you waste around 5 hours on this game you should already be able to memorize the attacks of all enemies in the first chapter, and around 15 hours maybe (bit too much but whatevs) to learn the attacks of the sisters. Sure the game is heavily RNG based but that doesnt mean that timing attack and dodges isnt reliable, atleast the bosses dont just randomly throw random attacks while they are doing their patterns

People complaining and whining to devs about games have ruined more games than I can count. Games are fine as is. Play more and get better, and if you don't have the patience, play a different game. 🤷‍♂

All things considered, BoI is about is old-school as it gets in terms of this type of games (NOT the actual rogue-likes), and it has crazy rng, you can have a build which erases the entire screen in seconds, and it's kinda part of the point. Yes you can have busted builds and reroll to have a higher chance of building one but you can also win with most average or even ♥♥♥♥ builds. Skul is much the same. It's not that the game doesn't have player skill involved, you're just playing in different and specific way.

To be fair you can only block with certain skuls that have those types of skills, and even then those go on long cooldowns. But yeah, dodging gives plenty of invincibility frames for bosses, and all attacks pretty much stagger any enemy that isn't a giant/boss. I don't find find the block/parry/counter-type skills to be all that worthwhile in this game anyway, and prefer sticking to dashes and jumps.
