Same bosses kicking me back to the start. At first, it just looked like another grindfest in a Greek costume. I didn’t rage-quit, but I came close.

Then my friends stepped in. They told me to slow down. Upgrade the House. Try different weapons. Talk to people. Give gifts. Let it breathe.

So I did. And gradually, the repetition turned into rhythm. Fights started clicking. Dialogues built real momentum. I wasn’t just getting stronger — I was getting more involved.

That’s when Hades opens up. Not all at once, but piece by piece — through story, through choice, through pure mechanical brilliance. Every run teaches you something. Every death pulls you deeper in.

It’s not just polished — it’s obsessively crafted. Built with love, by nerds, for nerds. Every detail hums with intention. Every system clicks into place like clockwork wrapped in mythology. If you’re the kind of player who lives for tight loops, layered builds, and that one perfect run — Hades isn’t just worth your time. It’s your new home.

I’ll be honest, I’ve never been the biggest fan of roguelikes. The genre never really clicked with me. But as a huge fan of Supergiant Games previous titles (Bastion, Transistor, Pyre), I felt compelled to give Hades a shot. And wow, I’m so glad I did.

From the moment I started, I was hooked. The storytelling, voice acting, and art direction are top-notch, exactly what I’ve come to expect from Supergiant. But what really surprised me was how much fun I had with the gameplay loop. The combat is incredibly fluid and satisfying, and the way progression is handled makes each run feel rewarding, even if you don’t make it all the way.

It’s rare for a game to win me over in a genre I usually avoid, but Hades did it effortlessly. If you’re a fan of Supergiant’s work, don’t let the “roguelike” label scare you off, this one’s something special.
