Hades
When controller unplugs, I have to restart the game to use it again.
Greetings, everybody!

As the title says, whenever any of my controllers decide to disconnect, either the wire comes loose or it runs out of battery, and I manage to connect it back, the game refuses to detect it again and it forces me to use keyboard and mouse.

The only thing I can do to fix it is by saving the game while being in a safe spot, exiting the game, making sure the controller is connected again and launching the game again. This is really annoying, to say the least.

In case you're wondering, I'm running the game on Windows 10 (x64), I have an Xbox One S controller and a Switch Pro controller. I use the X1S controller because I cannot stand the Switch's button swap (A <=> B and X <=> Y) and it doesn't seem to care what control profile I use for it, it establishes it's a Pro controller and it sticks to it 'till the bitter end. I tried Big Picture's control profile, I tried using BetterJoy to make it think it's an Xinput device, but no dice.

I tried to find solutions to this issue, but nobody seems to have reported this, at all. So before you tell me "to Google my issue"... oh trust me, I really tried, hence why I'm writing this.

If you need more info related to this issue, let me know and I'll respond as soon as I can.
Thanks in advance!

Do you usually have both of your controllers connected at the same time?

Not really, I only use one controller at any given moment.

Alright. Could you try setting the launch option /AllowControlHotSwap=false ?

I'm not totally sure about the issue with the Switch Pro--I know recently the devs have been working on fixing an issue where the game *didn't* handle Switch Pro inputs correctly, so that may have affected this?
I'm afraid to say that the command /AllowControlHotSwap=false didn't fix the issue, with neither the X1 nor the Pro controllers. In fact, for the latter, the game displayed keyboard and mouse input prompts instead of the controller's, but it worked as it's intended to. Regardless, once disconnected during gameplay and reconnected, it forces me to restart the game, as I mentioned before.

As for the Pro controller, it actually follows Nintendo's button layout, it even displays the Switch buttons and all, it's just that the position on the buttons throws me off so much, confirming with the right face button and cancelling with the down face button... It's a personal thing at this point, but I digress.

Thanks for the responses! I'm really glad there's someone willing to assist me.

Alright--could you try adding /UseMouse=false ?

I've tried adding that command to the previous one and without it, but it's still the same, it won't let me reconnect the controller/s once disconnected. 😅

Alright. I'm not totally sure what the next step would be, and I'm going to be unavailable for a bit. Could you follow the steps at the end of the pinned help message about emailing support@supergiantgames.com?
No problem! Thanks again for the help. I'll make sure to let the devs know about this issue.

In case it helps, I can confirm also having this same issue with a wireless 360 controller. (no other controllers are connected)

I can confirm that a friend of mine suffers the same issue, which I mentioned in the email I sent to them yesterday.
I'm surprised by how easy this issue is to recreate, yet I wasn't able to find anyone talking about it. Let's hope this gets fixed in a future update.

The issue should've been fixed a couple patches ago, which is why I'm surprised it's coming up for you.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Well I'll be damned! It worked! Whenever my controller disconnects, I can reconnect it during gameplay! And it also let me use my Switch Pro controller with the Xbox One mapping and all.
I haven't even got a response from the developers after sending then an email. Kind of bummed out about that, but I'm glad this issue can be solved without the devs' involvement.

Thank you so much for the info!

(I'm also sorry for not suggesting that myself--I completely forgot about it when I was helping you a week ago ^.^")

Thank you @yan for sharing
