PlayStation Configuration is one of the settings in Big Picture Mode, in the controller settings there. I'd definitely suggest testing with other games—that will help identify if it's a Steam issue, or a Hades issue.
* I've added the launch options listed above to the game properties
* I have tried Disabled, Enabled and Default controller settings - Not sure if I’ve restarted every time yet - What’s the correct setting for a Mac?
* And then in the “Controller General settings” which opens the (big screen) detail on which controllers are hooked up - PlayStation is checked and recognized
The control works in Big screen mode - I can browse easily.
Is there anything else I’m missing?
If it's not working with another game as well, I'd suggest reaching out to Steam support directly, since it's most likely an issue with the controller and Steam. Best of luck!
