Orpheus has disappeared...

Hey there,

I've been loving the game and other than a few crashes when alt-tabbing and a couple small graphical errors, it's been a pretty smooth experience. Until now maybe...

So I started up today, having saved the night before after arriving at the House of Hades. Before logging off the previous night, Orpheus was playing a song when I arrived. Today, when I started, the song was still playing, but Orpheus was nowhere to be seen. Additionally, the audio indicated that he was somewhere around Hades' desk / Cerberus. I thought it was a minor glitch and ignored it but I've played 3 more runs now and Orpheus has not appeared after any of them.

I realize that sometimes he's gone when I arrive back at the house which seems normal but this long stretch without him is extremely odd. Is my game glitched and he's just... missing now?

Update 1: just did another run and Orpheus is still missing. So that's like 4 runs now where he's just gone.

Update 2: another run, still no Orpheus. I'm convinced something's wrong now. For some reason, he despawned when I loaded up a save and is now just gone until a patch is implemented or I somehow hit a fix.

Update 3: 3 more runs today, still no Orpheus. I wonder what will happen if I purchase his contract (the one that reunites him with his muse).

If he still doesn't show up after a few additional runs, I would F10 ingame and send a bug report.

I just did that to make sure the devs know, in case it is a glitch so it can be resolved hopefully before V1.0 drops or when it drops.

I have a (potentially) positive update.

Orpheus did not appear for about 10 or 11 runs altogether and I'm convinced it's a glitch of some sort. It may have to do with nectar affinity being full or saving in the main halls or administrative chamber areas when he's playing a song but I can't really tell.

Today however, I took a risk and purchased his Singer's Gamble from the House Contractor. I did a run... and he appeared when I got back to the house! He told me about his contract change and then whizzed off to Asphodel to meet with Eurydice.

I've stopped just at the point of him thanking me and leaving so I'm unsure if the issue will persist in the coming runs so I'm unable to tell if this was a temporary appearance but I'll hopefully update tomorrow or Saturday with some more details on the outcome of all this.

So if Orpheus has disappeared and you're unsure what to do, purchase the Singer's Gamble and that maaaaaaay work!

I have another update with SPOILERS!!!

So I've played about 4 or 5 more runs and Orpheus hadn't spawned in the House since I bought the Singer's Gamble and I hadn't found an opportunity to visit Eurydice either. I finally just ran into Eurydice and Orpheus was there with her! I could only collect Eurydice's bonus and leave so I left it at that. When I got back to the house, Orpheus was not present. I'm not sure if the problem remains or if Orpheus will begin appearing again, now that I found him with her. I'll do a final update after a few more runs with a trip or two more to them in Asphodel.

I wasn't aware you haven't done that yet, I'm pretty sure you have to visit the reunited npcs before the house one comes back, future note for the other two reuniting quests. Orpheus wouldn't be present on that run if he was with Eurydice but he should return the run after that

Orpheus reappeared at the house, exactly when you said! Now I just have to hope that I'll run into him for more runs and he doesn't disappear again for ages.

Hey there, sorry for the late response on this - it looks like you figured it out, but there is a silent condition on the Singer's Gamble item that requires Orpheus not to be in the House. This is working as intended, and you shouldn't see any more prolonged absences from Orpheus now that this quest is progressing. Sorry for the confusion!

Hi, thanks for the clarification! Yeah Orpheus is now a regular in the House! I just wasn't sure if I found a glitch and wanted the devs to know in case it was but I'm really glad it isn't! Absolutely love the game! Good luck with 1.0 launch!
