you can make friends with any/all of the characters in the game, but I think only two of them have a romantic relationship with Zag, so you're fine to just give gifts to everyone (your first gift to each person will unlock a keepsake so it's worthwhile to give at least 1 to everyone). iirc you can't accidentally lock yourself into a specific romance either, so there's no harm in giving gifts to people!

There's three three romance options (Dusa, Megaera and Thanatos) and each represents a different ancient Greek concept of love. No consequences to advancing them all at same time and you're giving the choice of backing off if you don't want a romantic relationship I believe and one of the three represents love as friendship instead of romantic relationship.

GIve a gift to each NPC first through as you get an unique keepsake from each one for doing so.
