Hades
what's your favorite roguelike / roguelite?
I only recently discovered this genre a few months back since they seem to become popular within the indie scene.
I've kind of been playing SuperHot's roguelite, a bit of gunfire and Synthetik. Hades and dead cells kind of got repitive for me, and i cant seem to get into card game roguelites like Griftlands and Fight in tight spaces for some reason. Idk I guess they're just boring to me.
but what's your favorit?

I've got a couple hundred hours in Binding of Isaac.

Everspace, FTL, Children of Morta, Wizard of Legend, and Moonlighter were all great titles.

Synthetik is better than almost every other roguelike I've ever tried

Games that aren't as good as Synthetik but are still good roguelikes:

Enter the Gungeon
Noita
Into the Breach
Slay the Spire
Risk of Rain 2

Have to second Noita - no other game will let you trigger such fun and dumb reactions. More than earned it's title as a falling sand roguelike.

I would recommend Supergiant's other games if you like Hades though - they aren't roguelikes, but they are all good.

+1 for Monster Train and Slay the Spire for deckbuilding roguelikes.

roguelike - tome
roguelite - our darker purpose
altho hades comes pretty close for the latter, some of the story elements (esp orpheus and eurydice) ruin it. hades is def the superior choice in term of pure gameplay tho

Interesting, what bothered you about that?

Without a doubt Hades, but I'm kinda new to the genre. Just the way Hades keeps the story going with new dialogue popping up even 100+h in, along with the fun gameplay, is keeping it super entertaining.

Of the ones I've played:
  1. FTL
  2. Hades
  3. Wizard of Legend (a bit on the easy side like Hades, so it's another great entry point)
  4. Risk of Rain 1/2
  5. Dungeon of the Endless
  6. Unrailed
  7. Ziggurat
Honorable mentions:
  • Sundered - Awesome roguelite/metroidvania hybrid
  • Dino Run DX - Cute game, can't really call it a roguelite
Crypt of the Necrodancer looked and felt like a great game, but it was just too hard for me.

Rogue Legacy didn't keep my attention for long.

Never played Binding of Isaac, but after watching a few hours of gameplay I already felt like I had enough.

Adding to the FTL love. It's still one of my go-to addiction games.

Spelunky idk how to call it roguelike does describe it good enough. It is half rgouelike half Platformer with the right amount of randomness that sometimes leads to tears of rage and frustration but only for 5-10 seconds after that it doesn't feel like you lost anything at all.
it still manages to keep me playing for at leaste the last 6 years of my life.

whoever reads this: have a nice day.
