Gamepass and Saves

It looks like the game is coming to XBox and Gamepass (both for XBox and PC), nice.

Can the Devs or anyone confirm that the PC version from Gamepass will use the same save folder (the user/Documents folder) as the Steam version, so we will be able to use our same save files? I assume this would be the case, but sometimes the Microsoft Store games do weird things and hide stuff.

Also, do you know if the XBox will have cross-saves with the PC? This is less important to me personally but I think it will be really important to a lot of people.

As far as I'm aware, it will use the same save file location. I can check with a dev tomorrow if you'd like.

And I can confirm that the XBox will not have cross-save to PC, due to technical limitations.

Due to a variety of technical constraints, we were unable to implement cross-saves in the PlayStation or Xbox versions of Hades. We don't have plans to add this feature later due to those same constraints.

I had a bit of a bad experience with Final Fantasy XV. I played that on Gamepass for about 50 hours, but then it went off of Gamepass, and it turned out the saves were encrypted in some way and there was no way to move them to the Steam version. So now I'm a little afraid to play any "long" game on Gamepass that I might want to keep playing long-term.

In that case though, the saves did sync between PC Gamepass and XBox, so maybe that's the issue: it might be hard to get things to sync between PC/XBox _and_ between different PC Versions. If that's the case, it makes sense why Hades won't sync between PC/XBox.

Hello! I have a couple updates from the devs--

As it turns out, while the regular PC/Xbox versions will not have cross-save, the GamePass version will have cross-save.

However, those saves will only be stored in the Microsoft Cloud, and there is not a way to transfer existing saves into that system, or out of the system.

Yes, not with the XBox, but you still didn't really mention the thing I care about the most.

Unfortunately, there is not a way to move save files between the PC Gamepass and PC Steam versions.

The switch version has cross save if you sign into Steam so XBox should figure it out.

Hi all, I've down several saves transfers from xbox games to steam from the past, but for some reason it doesn't work with Hades unfortunately. If anyone comes with a solution, I'll be glad to read it!

I started playing this game using Xbox Game Pass for PC, and have put a large amount of hours into this game. Now I want to switch to the Steam version because I bought the Steam Deck. But I can't figure out how to move the save game, so I now have to start all over? Ugh :(
