Why is Aspect of Guan Yu supposed to be OP?
It's basic attack sucks, the heal is pathetic, and the life reduction is overkill.

The only way to play this is to chuck spears or rely on a good cast boon it seems. Anyone have any success with this Aspect? I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hate it

I already thought the spear sucked overall in literally all of its forms. Then this form comes along and reminds you it could always be worse.

Guan Yu is probably the worst weapon in the entire game. Like, I'm certain it can be scientifically proven.

Honestly I don't get all those posts I've seen around talking about how OP this aspect is supposed to be. The health reduction just needs to be removed. The lifesteal isn't anywhere near good enough to merit that kind of life reduction

Yeah, I don't really get it either. I could see some fun syngeries cause the throw spear is an attack, so attack boons would effect it, like Zeus could be fun. But yeah, the health loss is way too brutal for me to care getting a run done past 0 heat for the prophecy and never touching it again. I would like to see it makes you start with -70 health, which would be less with points. But not a percentage.
Only tried it once on the basic level 1 version. If you get the Daedalus hammer that makes your spin attack charge faster it's a viable weapon - I at least managed to make it to Hades (he did eat my ass tho)

Wondering if it's actually good once it's max upgraded to offset the health debuff a bit. Also spin attack *is* an attack so I can see it maybe being good with the Athena attack deflect boon, or zeus attack boon. Does seem to make half the Gods' attack boons go complete ass tho.

It doesn't seem any better than any other weapon - can only assume people that sing its praises are the types that lose health fairly regularly in encounters to begin with. Lifesteal would be well worth in that case.

I think it's fine but apparently its been nerfed not too long ago so you might be seeing old post. You just take things slow and use the heal to from behind cover, its pretty safe.

Isn't throwing the spear a special? And it's way too slow for Zeus to benefit it I think..

Even the spin sucks, because it doesn't hit as often as it should. Unless your target is backed up against a wall, you can realistically only get 2-3 hits in. It's absolute garbage lol.

Spear's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ anyways, but yeah Guan Yu (especially the base form, where you have to level it up just to have playing with it not suck quite so much) is just the absolute most trash I ever did see.

I tried Lv5 Guan Yu aspect. It's still ♥♥♥♥. The heal is too little for how slow the charge spin attack is.

Before 1.0, Guan Yu used to be really strong and fast.
I personally think the attack/lifesteal was always some kind of gimmick, but the special really was a game changer. Special + Charged skewer + any +% boon was the way to go. Not to mention, Chaos had fewer boons to offer so that sweet + special damage appeared more likely.

Its not bad per-se but it requires even more precision play. Which is kind of stupid for the spear.
People like to play the spear because of the range options. You get to control your engagements and even tackle far off enemies.

Guan Yu just raises the risks and offers little in return.

Keep in mind part of the game is about escalating danger so, it might just be that its really meant for hardcore players getting some variety, like they can with the pact.

yup this ♥♥♥♥ needs to be buffed. It feels like you're adding on 10 heat by just using this aspect
Lorska Nov 13, 2020 @ 7:24am
I'm confused... Are you supposed to be able to lose with this aspect?
It feels like the only way to not win with it is running out of time with tight deadline. Pretty much all enemies can be abused for free healing. Fish for the charged attack hammers (4 variants to choose from: bigger+more damage, lasting longer, faster charge, sturdy) and add a fancy attack effect (probably just Athena but any high % multiplier works too like Aphro).

Free sustain is broken, I don't really feel like the reduced health is much of an issue either. You'll still stack health whenever possible just so you have a decent buffer. Once you're in a range where you have to mess up multiple times quickly in a row in order to die you'll just not lose health anymore...
The only issue with it is that it's freaking boring to just spam charged attacks...

Just don't try to fight charon.

Hmmm, it's really good, no idea why you are calling it bad.
Xenos Nov 13, 2020 @ 10:42am
It's really strong ranged attack with charged skewer +200% base damage.

This means you can play relatively safe, and use spin attack to keep your self up. Ideal setup is to also one of the guan yu aspects or quick spin, this keeps you at 100% HP in most situations except bosses which then depends on player skill.

At high heat with attack speed/harder healing Guan Yu starts sucking though.
