Hades

Bastion, Transistor or Pyre?
I'm on the verge of buying this simply because it's Supergiant Games. But I've got a question for you guys on the forum.

I loved Bastion and Transistor. Replayed both several times. But I really didn't like Pyre at all. Not the story and not the magic basketball mechanics.

Will I like Hades?

As for all roguelite games, you might get tired out eventually, because you basically play the same thing over and over again, with different styles, combinations of items, perks and so on. Supergiant Games does a great job at providing different gameplay elements such as having progressing conversations with characters between runs that do improve the experience.

I would say that if you liked Bastion and Transistor, you will probably enjoy this game, too.

All of their games are different. This is an isometric rogue-lite. The closest comparison i heard (even though it's a 2d platformer) is dead cells

Probably yes. Hades is similiar in combat to Transistor (without turn-based planning element) and storytelling to Pyre (with visaul novel-esque dialog). In this one though story is not as much a focus. Game is made by moment to moment gameplay. You probably have to like rougelights to be okay with losing perks between runs. The story focuses on Greek mithology, so if you know something about it already, you can get an extra kick with referances. The combat is really satisfying and even in early access it was worth a price.

Thank you all for the quick replies. I'll go ahead and buy!
(Sorry, could only pick one post as the answer, but all were appreciated.)

Hades is a roguelike Bastion at it's core.
I think I prefer Bastion in some ways, but Hades replayability is way higher and the gameplay pace is way faster.

I loved Bastion and Transistor, but to me Hades is in a new league. Played hades over 100 hours and it wasn't even full released...

All their games are of different genres and with unique mechanics. One can't really compare them objectively. Personally, Transistor is my favorite, since it has that pause-plan-execute mechanic, that ends up looking like an awesome choreography.

As far as i've seen, all their games have amazing stories and pay a lot of attention to their music. No matter which game you end up choosing, i doubt you will be disappointed. For me, i am so convinced of their quality now, that their games have become an insta-buy as soon as they come out xD

I honestly find this game and slay the spire are like "Game of the decade" for me. Only thing left to me to do is buy OST.
If I've to compare the game to other supergiant game its basically like everything they learned from their past game and combine only the good parts of those game. Its a blast and every fail run is not soul crushing you want to see more what the world offer and explore the story.

I will see... have unpopular opinion: Pyre is my favorite Supergiant game, but I love all of them so I can't wait to finally play Hades

Yes. It's the best.
I didn't like Pyre either.

Pyre is more of a visual novel so I can understand not liking it but I loved it. Hades is probably the best Supergiant game with Bastion and Pyre tied for second.

This one is much more like Bastion. If you liked that you will certainly enjoy this one.
