Hades
The mystery of Skelly
At the moment, the game storyline is finished, but the origins of Skelly and his mysterious employer is the question that's been haunting me since EA release, and as far as I can tell, it still remains unanswered. I have completed several runs since reaching the epilogue, and the only thing that I have discovered since v 1.0 is that the story about Schelemeus may have been true, but Skelly wants to keep it a secret . Is this the end of this particular plot line? Is there more to be discovered? Or should I just respect the character's wishes to keep his past to himself?

Before the 1.0 update I thought that he was left to Zagreus by Persephone, so that he may eventually find her. However, this is utterly impossible, given the reason why she left in the first place. My current theory is that he is, in fact, employed by the Fates, as part of the reason why they lent the Infernal Arms to Zagreus. Does anybody else have any answers or thoughts concerning this matter?

Dont really know if its RNG related to get that event or if you need to unlock the 2 statues you can get from Skelly or upgrade all the weapons or whatever.

BTW, for everyone who wants to know his employer:
(OBVIOUS MEGA SPOILERS)

Its Charon

Thank you for this! I'll just have keep trying then. And I don't think it's related to anything else in the room, because I have unlocked all 3 statues and have fully upgraded all aspects of all weapons.

Did you max his hearts by gifting nectar and ambrosia?
Could also be triggered from that.

Yes, I have maxed his hearts. The only character that I haven't maxed the hearts with is Persephone . I haven't played too much after reaching the game epilogue and forging a bond with my grandmother , but I've done 10-20 runs since then, I think. Maybe the RNG just wasn't kind to me. Also, it might be related to A Friendly Wager prophecy, since I haven't completed it yet.

The only things I have to do in the game are maxing Persephone's bond, 4 decorations and completing the codex for 2 of the Surface's fishes, and I STILL didn't get that dialogue. I'd really want to, it's like the "biggest" thing left for the game to tell me, I hope I just get it before maxing everything left and putting the game down.

Here's the clip:

I exhausted Skelly's cool dialogues long time ago as well, had a chat with Hermes, and Schelemeus stuff (with comments from Asterius too), and still didn't get to the end of his storyline somehow. Turns out, that's not only his storyline, but could be plain out the main underline of the whole game itself. Who's really behind all of the events and such. :CatMorta:

Heh, just after i watched this clip earlier today, finally something clicked in my game. Zag asked Dusa about Skelly, then Hades, then Nyx, Achilles... (not necessarily in that order) and finally i could confront Skelly one last time (and after that the Dark Prince himself).

So it seems that you need to ask about him almost all the key characters to get that dialogue, and missing even one of them can stop your progress (i got a feeling that it was Dusa in my case, since i don't see her very often, and we were having lots of talks about weird feelings too).

I kind of assumed that the end of it being Charon was kind of a cliffhanger too? Like, Charon can't say anything, and I assume Zag can't really understand what his groan implies. So when Zag asks Charon if Skelly is working for him, he can't really get an answer, ergo it's a dead end lead. In the end, Skele is still a question mark to me.

Well, that's up to debate whether Zag can understand Charon or not. This trope is fairly common in pop culture. Monterey Jack was the only one who could understand Zipper's buzzes in Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers, Jake understands 'Korean' which Lady speaks in Adventure Time, C-3PO understands beeps that R2-D2 makes in Star Wars and so on. And in every case unintelligible character is able to understand normal speech.

In Hades many other Chthonic gods (Nyx, Than and so on) talk about their relationship with Charon and make assumptions on his relationship with others, so it looks like they can talk to him as well.

To me the theory that Charon was behind all the game events basically (he provided Zag with Skelly and weapons, he instigated Nix to help Zag with mirror and stuff, he sent Hermes to help — and other Olympians followed) is far more interesting than a dead end. Also, Skelly is usually quick to admit he bullshitted Zag about something, but not in this last case. :Evilstaff:

I'm pretty sure it's RNG. I have the least completed file out of anyone here, with only one statue and 4-5 icons, including Skelly's. I gave him the last ambrosia for his icon, went to the room, and then back out to the courtyard and I got that particular conversation.

Skelly can't help in the fight against Charon, this makes sense

There are plenty of lines even after you found out the source.
But it's all locked behind 1 key dialogue.
You need to trigger Hermes dialogue with Skelly tooth
Understandable that plenty didn't get it since no one use it often after maxing it once. And early on he got plenty other dialogue in queue that the item didn't trigger.

201 hours into the game the only thing that hasn't happened for me was Skelly's dialogue revealing his employer.
At hour 202 I finally cracked it - by accident.
Because of this I'm pretty sure I know the exact thing that unlocked it for me.

The obvious things checklist:
* Maxed out Skelly's Nectar & Ambrosia level
* Got Lucky Tooth
* Got Companion Rib

Things that might have contributed
* Maxed out Lucky Tooth

Dialogue events that happened along the way
* Talked to Hermes about Skelly (after equipping Lucky Tooth)
* Talked to Asterius about Schelemeus (I think this happened by itself after earlier Skelly dialogue)

Dialogue events that probably happened but 100+ runs ago so I forgot.
* Talked to Achilles about Skelly
* Talked to Dusa about Skelly
* Probably talked to Nyx?
* Maybe talked to Hades?

Things I tried that 100% did NOT unlock the dialogue:
* Maxed out companion Rib
* Summoned Rib enough times to unlock journal entry
* Summoned Rib 20+ times total
* Summoned Rib against the Minotaur (to see if they chat about Minos or something)
* Tried to summon Rib against the secret boss (Zag reacted with "Skelly, where are you?" after 3 tries, but no other consequence)

The thing that FINALLY unlocked the dialogue:
* I had Rib equipped and Than appeared during the run (Than did not react during the run, and I did not summon Skelly during his challenge.)
* After the run, new dialogue option appeared with Than. (Zag asks Than about Skelly and Than is weird about it, in a "Who? What? Why" manner.)
* After this, Skelly's reveal dialogue appeared INSTANTLY.

This was the last bit of dialogue missing for me for over 50+ hours of playtime so it feels absolutely great to finally have gotten it.

Hope this helps.

I don't know, I've used Rib like once and I eventually got the dialogue. It's mostly rng, if you need to trigger dialogues with everybody first, each of those dialogues has rng. or maybe I'm oversimplifying it.
