I've been avoiding it at all costs because I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT IT WAS and couldn't find any info on it, I thought each room you chose between different ITEMS, either a boon, the purple stuff, the currency to upgrade the starting rooms, charons currency, the hammer, etc
I've been gaming for 30+ ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ years so insult me all you want, but these items and their corresponding icons are OBSCURE... OB-♥♥♥♥♥♥♥-SCURE... oh a pomegranate, that's used to level up a boon apparently, what the ♥♥♥♥ kind of correlation is there between a pomegranate and leveling up one of your passive abilities? a pouch with a skull on it, DEFINITELY must be a shop, right? Every gamer knows, when you see that yellow skull, it screams "SHOP"
If you're so concerned with wrapping your head around stupid ♥♥♥♥: wrap your head around how ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stupid it is that that big "pouch with a skull on it" isn't mentioned anywhere in the wiki... if it is, it's buried so far in that, for something so integral to the game, it should be on the main page along with all the other important ♥♥♥♥
Why couldn't they use a pouch with a skull icon on it for the shop? Why do the icons have to correlate to something related to a shop? Its just an icon nothing more or less. As the first person said why didn't you just try the door? The worst that can happen is that you lose the run. Yes i know you answered with that you avoided the door at all costs because you didn't know what it meant.
I don't really understand why you would avoid the door just because you don't know what an icon mean.
Also, about the pomegranate, some quotes from an article it took a few seconds to find: "The pomegranate fruit has been used throughout history and in virtually every religion as a symbol of humanity’s central beliefs and ideals, namely, life and death, rebirth and eternal life, fertility and marriage, and abundance." "In Ancient Greek mythology, the pomegranate features prominently in the story of Persephone and her marriage to Hades, the god of the Underworld." "As a consequence, pomegranates were often offered to the goddess Demeter in prayer for fertile land." As a story about Hades and Persephone, the pomegranate was bound to be featured. As for what it does, you just do it once. Its like complaining about not being told a boss' moveset before you fight them, you just experience it and learn, same thing here.
Gaming for 30+ years, you must have had a hard time correlating a mushroom with making your character grow larger... the wiki probably wasn't very clear then either.
Sometimes games just have symbolism that you just have to figure out.
I went into it when I saw it to figure out what it did. Your initial runs are just to get experience with the game, collect some resources, etc., it's not like you're going to go far on your early runs.
And sometimes you'd rather just ask, but apparently asking leads to berating.... jesus christ, how far we've fallen......
Also, how do you correlate something like Mario growing from a mushroom powerup to something like this? I'm sure if the internet existed back then people would have been asking all sorts of questions about NES mario just like my innocuous question about this image in Hades. But actually, they could have gone to the Super Mario Bros wiki, and on the FRONT ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ PAGE it would have said "MUSHROOM: MAKES YOU BIGGER, FIRE FLOWER: MAKES YOU SHOOT FIRE, STAR: MAKES YOU INVINCIBLE".... unlike in this case where, on the Super Mario Bros wiki back in '87, Mushrooms wouldn't even exist on the wiki and people would say "wtf is that? I can't find any info on it"
You're right, lets go back to the Nintendo message boards when Super Mario Bros was released in the 80's and see if anyone asked a question similar to mine "What do Mushrooms do, I don't want to jump on it before I know what it does"
The reason you got such an odd reception is because you could have taken 2 seconds and just clicked on it. Asking questions is fine, in fact you got your answer rather quickly, but you decided to come back with a rant.
Even if it was instant death once you entered the room you would now know, and could have saved everyone on the forum this waste of a thread.
People here are very good at helping especially since this game has some pretty obscure features or story hints, but when you ask a simple question that could have taken 1 second to figure out on your own, you are going to get some strange looks.
Then you add ontop a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ attitude and cry that people suck, maybe just maybe its not the other people here that suck.
Is this a copy pasta? Because if not, it became one.
I've been gaming for over 2 decade and nearing 3, I'm not that uptight lol
Edit: Also there was an actual phone line to call if you were stuck in a game from Nintendo. But I guess you are a troll and too young to remember that. You could write them a letter too. Not an email.
Jesus some people... I really hope it's a troll.
