Edit. Decided to test myself and yea OP you are right. Had a Hammer start and 10/10 runs started with it after a Give Up. Even when changing weapon. Odd
If you reload the entire game, it may create a new set of configurations, but maybe not. If you die instead of giving up, it should create new options.
This effectively lets you go back and choose the right weapon for the boons offered.
Tailoring the first part of a run is just as important to success as the build youre going to use.
When you enter skellies room the game will auto save, this is important because you will be useing the "give up" feature. When you do it will reload this save point.
Choose your weapon - youll most likely be changing it
exit the room and check the first boon or upgrade that shows
- if its a boon the three choices will be the same regardless of the god keepsake you have on you. What i mean is.. say dionysus offers an attack ,cast, and dash boon. that means if you "give up" and load a different keepsake the other god that shows will also offer attack, cast, and dash boons. The rarity will differ based on the mirror talents and level of the keepsake but the boon effects will be the same.
For instance i never use the bows basic attack and tend to use the special more, so i would "give up" and choose a weapon that better suited to attack, like the spear or exagryph.
Since the boon effects will still be the same i can choose which god best suites the attack preference and the weapon.
This already starts the run in a great position insted of relying on pure rng for your first boon to match your weapon choice.
The first room is always the same on reload, except for some enemy variation, so if a fishing point spawns or a chaos gate shows up it will always be there when you "give up" and reload, effectivly letting you choose different chaos boons, as any room after the first isnt seeded and has the chance to change.
Every time I'm doing a higher heat run I'll equip a non-Olympus keepsake (usually leave Acorn in place) and start run to see what shows up. If hammer, I'll test and give up with each weapon to see what options there are. If it's a god, the boon options will be the same for other gods. So if I get an epic Zeus/Dio special but I'm using sword., I'll give up, switch to Chaos Shield/Aspect and restart. Or if I get epic Ares attack to start, I'll give up, switch keepsake to god who has attack boon I want, and then start with that and desired aspect.
Super helpful once you know the builds and are aiming for particular ones.
