50+ runs and no thanatos?

Am I doing something wrong? Also, I have yet to find the correct combination of weapon/boons to beat Hades. Any suggestions welcome.

You've done 50 runs and haven't beaten Hades? I know Thanatos has to spawn in Elysium first, so if you are having a ton of trouble and aren't getting that far consistently, that could be why. And for your second question, most anything works fine, just use the weapon/aspect you like the most and learn it. My favorite is the spear by far, but every weapons has its strengths and people who prefer it.

damn. thought i was taking it slow by spending the first 30ish runs purely on completing the Fates by choosing fated boons and such. meaning bad builds just for that purpose.

My basic setup that works for almost any weapon except exagryph is...
1. base attack can come from any god
2. Divine Dash from Athena so you can dash all over the place and deflect attacks
3. Ares Call, but Poseidon's will work as well. And if you're confident in having enough DPS you can also grab Athena's. They all give immunity while you can still dish out quite a nice chunk of damage.
4. Grab stuff from Ares that increases damage% of all attacks
5. Lots of Artemis stuff. Critical Chance is a big one. Support Fire is another.
6. Always grab 1 Chaos Gate with a damage boost as reward. Or tons of gold so you can buy boons if need be.

Then you can blast through pretty much everything. And if you gave those gods some Nectar they give a keepsake that let's you manipulate RNG and increase the chance they give what you need pretty reliably.

its real tough in my opinion to have a definitive build for Hades because all the powers have their pros and cons, i think im 40 something runs in and ive beaten Hades 3 or 4 times (played this so much i cant remember)

anyway heres some of my advice on what i found helped me with Hades (basically what giblix has said above with some extras)

Demeter's chill effects in combination with Hermes movement/dash buffs, slowing hades and making it easier to zip around and dodge his aoe spin attack

anything artemis, like giblix said above her crit buffs are very good, her cast is also good

athenas deflective dash is good, but imo her deflective cast is more useful since you can damage and deflect his skull attacks at the same time

aphrodites weak debuff can be very useful

i also like ares doom since it can cause some big extra damage if its leveled up enough

at least one chaos gate boost early on, 2 if you can get one early in asphodel

have at least close to 200 health and at least 2 revives for the fight with hades

I also didn't run into Than for a very long time (probably over 50 runs) and I beat Hades pretty early on. I've also not yet seen the item that gets rid of the little explosive chariots in Elysium even once and I have all the achievements. Unlucky rng i guess

I guess I'm just bad...FInally killed hades...once, only to realize you have to kill him TWICE?! Ugh. Another hour run and still not dead. Used the aspect of hera bow, with purple cloud buffs and tons of other +cast and attack and DoT dmg and still not enough. I feel like I'm just doing things horribly wrong. I killed 90% of hades bombs before they went off too.

I restarted my save file when version 1.0 dropped, and I just met Thanatos for the first time today. I was on escape attempt 12.

I have no idea what triggers it, but I'm pretty sure you at least have to have made it to Hades at least once. You definitely don't have to beat him though.

I had 70 hours in the game before the reset and had only beaten Hades 3 times. Once with Excalibur, which is actually quite easy.
