Hades
Is this game hard or is it just me?
Seriously the furthest I've been is one chamber into the fire zone after magaera. Getting my ass kicked lol

Sounds normal. Normally people take somewhere between 20-30 runs to get their first clear.

you can turn on god mode in settings to get a progressively stronger innate damage reduction every time you die with it on. alternatively, dying is fine in hades since you gather darkness and buy important upgrades at the mirror of night. i only beat the final boss on my first savefile after 12 tries. spam dashes and get death defies whenever possible, i recommend giving achilles/cerberus/skelly a gift so that they give you their keepsakes, its a: damage reduction trinket, a base health boost trinket and a free death defy trinket respectively. always go for a good quality normal attack boon early if possible, i recommend Athena's attack, which allows you to deflect attacks and ignore dmg

Even having over 60 hours before release, I was having issues after not playing for a couple months. Started a new file, took me 20 runs to win, then I won like 4 in a row with different weapons. Learn attacks and keep moving, you'll get it.

I got my ass kicked repeatedly until I actually unlocked some of the weapons I did better with.

I think it's pretty normal to die a lot. At least for average players. It takes time to build up bonuses, game knowledge and muscle memory. I beat the game using god-mode, and got up to about 60% damage reduction.

I started over with no god-mode and have made it through several runs. So you might want to consider trying it out to get a better grasp of the game.

I think it's a hard game but in the vein of Enter the Gungeon more than Binding of Isaac. (skill dependant vs rng dependant, even a good isaac player requires some type of item to make it work)

Try to pinpoint why you failed the last run and improve upon it. I died a lot to the 3rd boss (trying not to spoil) before finding out what I was doing wrong. Now I'm dying a lot to the last boss. My last 2 run ended with me being impatient.

I already am used to fast pace gameplay like hack n slash or brawler type game (Castle Crasher) so I transitioned better than most. I beat the game in 12 tries without god mode but I think I'm slightly above avrg. People tend to need 20-30 runs to beat it.

It's rogue-like. You will die a lot, progressing further and further with each attempt.
You need to get knowledge of all weapons and Boons to properly understand what to select to make you stronger.

And you need many points in Darkness - double dash, 2-3 life, Chtonic Vitality, etc.

also cant relate, beat it on seventh run and almost pushing forty win streak ever since then and 100 % soon as well.

I needed 66 runs to get Hades killed for the first time.

Now I'm playing on heat 18. What I'm trying to say is: Stick to it. You will get better, and you will succeed.

Use mirror to upgrade - at first your goal should be mastering the controls and getting as much dark crystals and keys as possible. First power up dodge (2 dodges help immensly, and when you get to Hermes, he can sometimes give you another 3, which makes game much more managable), then death defiance, so when you die you can instantly get up. It will help you.
There is nothing to feel bad about. Don't be afraid to experiment and take whatever boon you see to check it out, however your priority should be Athena dodge deflect boon and Hermes attack speed/dodge.

20+ hours and I can't get past the Elysium boss(es.)

25 Runs in and only reached Hades twice, but no win so far. I think this game plays the "long game". You can play it for a few hundred hours to unlock everything and have fun while playing it. Also some people are better at certain things then others, so don't be mad or frustrated about it. For Example: In "Vermintide 2" it took me 200 Hours to get from the first difficulty (recruit) to the highest (cataclysm, 5th above recruit). And now after 600 Hours in this game i still struggle sometimes. Same will be in Hades: you learn how to behave/move/fight in the underworld with time spent in it. As long as you enjoy the game and stick with it, you will get there eventually. And if it frustrates you too much, put it aside for a bit and return to it when you think you are ready again. In the end: it is just a game, neither live nor death depends on it. It exists to provide fun and entertainment ;)

110 hours, it's getting easier... ^^
Shamanalah Sep 24, 2020 @ 7:47pm
I did 2 completed run in a row. The game gets easier once you play more and understand more of it.

Keep it up and you will get better. I used to have trouble with the 3rd boss and I ended up at the last boss twice in a row before completing twice in a row. I'm confident I can do it with proper boons now. Keep it up!

Edit: now 3 in a row

It's a tough game, that's alright, but much fairer than many others I've played over the years because you actually get rewarded. Want a difficult game that won't reward you? Try that low rent Diablo clone, Grim Dawn.

I have about 80 hours on Hades between Early Access and the present definitive version and I can escape almost every time now except when using the bow or when I am overdoing things with the Pact of Punishment. In short I get slaughtered when I either use a weapon I don't like or I get too cocky.
Be warned that Hades is always one tough SOB no matter how strong and experienced you are and that dealing with vermins in the final level is mostly a matter of luck, ie being offered a combination of boons that will allow you take those vermins out before they can wear you with poison.

This is a great game that has so far delivered, even though the osteoarthritis in my right hand doesn't like it one tiny bit!
