Generally any weapon is good if you just focus one type of god, usual problem is dudes go all over the place picking random boons left and right. Most any skill you get becomes amazing if you just focus on it, for example Doom becomes insane once you get the perks where it stacks with itself and takes .5s longer to activate. I remember thinking that Ares' cast blade rift is awful, until I just kept picking every possible boon it comes with and the Demeter Duo came along, and the blade rifts just melted everything, including the final boss.
Base fists are pretty meh though, you want any one of the other aspects because all of them have way better special attack.
I think one my best setups was something like Zeus Attack, Aphrodite Special, Dio Dash. Could dash in to get the hangover going, then mix in some jolt/weak for additional damage.Fists are really good at taking advantage of the mirror effect for extra damage against enemies with two+ status effects.
I like all the aspects of the fist.
Zagreus Aspect: Increased dodge, goes well with Hermes Plume runs. Combine the starting dodge, the plume, and Greater Evasion (Hermes boon) and you will get some high dodge/damage mitigation. I've had runs using this where I straight up stopped caring about trying to evade attacks and would just slug it out with the enemies and DPS burst them down before they could land enough hits on me.
I basically just throw my cast, dash in, spam a lot of attack, then hit special, throw cast, dash away and to the next victim, spam attack + special + more attack, etc repeat. Fists absolutely shred enemies when combine status effects with the mirror perk active.
Although I like this aspect, as poster above noted, all the other ones can output more DPS due to their unique specials.
Talos: The special pulls an enemy to you. Good for pulling pesky sorcerors or to finish off Elysium enemies etc.Its a fun one to use and the utility of being able to stay safe and pull enemies to you is nice.
Demeter: Poster above explained, this is the third form.
Hidden Aspect: The special on this one applies a unique status effect where enemies take additional damage while it is up, but also buffs them. Then it has a Doom-like effect and does a big burst of damage. It's a bit slower but heavier hitting. Since its a bit slower, Dio is not quite as good on this one as the other fists. Some kind of combination of Ares/Aphrodite probably good. I like Aphrodite to offset the buff you give enemies in case I accidentally mistime a move and get hit while it is up.
Doom doesnt stack without a specific Ares boon though, so i wouldnt agree with doom being great because of fast hits.
Worst mistake people do is pick dumb random passive skills and not focus on buffing their specific line of boons.
I was with a crit build, with dash deflect, the crit was jumping on each mobs with the artemis boons... i did this run in like 19min... I was laughing while smashing my buttons litteraly
That makes sense.
I have to carefully disagree with the statement that you have to focus on Ares though. As a main bow user, i like to have Ares on my attack but thats about it. Its too rng dependent if i try to go for Ares special and then doom stacks. Its usually enough to have Ares on attack and either Dionysus or Demeter on special to reach the end.
But, i am not in the end-game yet and havent tried much runs with the pact, so i dont know how boon choosing will be on extreme measures and such. Thats why i have to carefully disagree, because it may be possible that heavy focus on one god has to be done for proper end-game runs.
For instance people love the health drain hammer on sword, but if you try to use that on the final aspect with ultra slow swings, you've done little more than handicap yourself with a -60% hp since the swings only heal 2 per hit anyway.
I had poseidon dash with the bonus damage when you ram people into the wall along with his normal attack knockback
I blasted through everything except bosses. It was just sooooo much fun dashing around and just dancing with people while ramming them into the wall. Def my fav build to ♥♥♥♥ around.
FYI, for both Ares cast and Demeter cast you've got to get the Artemis duo that makes the cast track enemies quickly. It's insane how strong those casts can be if you have their upgrades and the Artemis duo.
For hammer, the upgrade which gives +900% armor dmg on dash-attack also gives piercing which is great for Elysium, as piercing also goes through shield making the shielding enemies alot easier, same with the boss. This hammer shreads armor on enemies and is awsome.
Going for Demeter or Aphrodite on special is good when learning as it slows or reduce damage.
(also the Demeter/Zeus duo is very good with jolted - Cold Fusion). But as mentioned before Ares is also good on special.
For dash using Athena helps as it reflects atleast in the beginning when your still learning.
(Athena is also good for attack as it will reflect attacks when close to enemies).
Fist require some attention to placement, try to get behind enemies and an extra dash from hermis is realy good. The Zues boon which does dmg when dashing right before getting hit (Lightning Reflexes) will trigger alot with fists, as it trigger when your close to enemies or projectiles when dashing.
(fyi, you can also just hold down the attack button an just dash around trying to dodge and get into a good spot.)
Placement/movement is key with fists.
