When I maxed Charon's relationship zagrious responded as if charon gave him something although I didn't see what it was.

Do you get something for maxing the relationship?

it certainly seems that way as his keepsake has a special icon on it now and it looks like I'm equipping two things instead of one. I know he doesn't have a summon.

Anyone know anything about this?

It's just an extra aesthetic showing off that you've maxed a bond. everyone will end up getting one as you max more relationships

I was under the impression that the unlock does something however.
As I said, my character seems to accept something when he got it.

Max bond doesn't give you anything. Affinity only gives you things in the case of 1) your first gift to a character, in which they give an item in turn, 2) the 6 characters that give you a summon after being given their first ambrosia
