What is your ranking of SuperGiant's games?
Hard to say since all of them are good games but for me it would be:

4. Transistor
3. Hades
2. Bastion
1. Pyre

Although I may shift 3 and 2 as I continue playing Hades

Pyre>>Bastion=Transistor>Hades

Hades places lower than deserved because of poor pacing to the story and lack of story replayability (just in time investment a 100 hour game is not incredibly replayable, especially so for a slow-progression roguelite). I'd easily rank this 2nd if the story and metaprogression didn't feel like they suffered from being tailored to the early access experience rather than a fresh save.

Pyre is pretty much my favourite game of the past decade. I hope Supergiant's next project is something as interesting and unique as the "Single player - team based - duel style - hero arena" I believe best describes the core gameplay of Pyre's rites.

Transistor's story is a bit harder to follow than Bastion's and the gameplay can be somewhat clunky at times. It has the best overall vocal tracks of their games though, and the innovations to how damage and lore unlocks force and encourage (respectively) you to experiment heavily with your loadout is really cool.

Bastion is just an incredibly solid game. Good story, great ending, superb presentation (which carries through to all their games). The gameplay is only really functional at first glance, but it's really well executed and with a wealth of options to find your preferred style of play.

I'm so glad we've gotten 4 amazing games. And I'm excited to see what may come in the future.

A lot of why Hades is at the bottom is story and music. In the other 3 the music really popped and accented the game but in Hades it just kind of seems to be there without the power of the others. Hades' story is also given out poorly. Transistor is so low because while the characters were well written the story itself was weak.

I will say Hades has better gameplay than Transistor or Pyre but that isn't what I play Supergiant Games games for and it feels lacking.

Sorry to necro but I'm currently playing Hades and the OST just hits the spot for me, I can't even imagine how the other games could have more impactful music; this post has singlehandedly inspired me to get the first three games.

Hades >= Pyre >> Bastion

Did not play Transistor yet but I really liked Pyre and honestly didn't care for Bastion so it'll either be 2 or 3

Well. it depends... Though I must say Transistor is easily my favourite. Mostly due to the soundtrack and narration. Least favourite is Hades I guess. All 4 are great though. Not a single one can be skipped. It's just that some resonate with us more then the others.

Gameplay:
1. Transistor (most tactical and engaging)
2. Hades (very fluid and pretty hardcore)
3. Bastion (pretty easy, yet satisfying still)
4. Pyre (this game is not about gameplay)

World & Characters:
1. Pyre (ultimately unmatched here)
2. Hades (the world-building is solid)
3. Bastion (it makes you really care)
4. Transistor (not many characters here)

Atmosphere & Music:
1. Transistor (see you in the Country...)
2. Bastion (it was awesome beyond words)
3. Pyre (powerful when in really counts)
4. Hades (not as heart-striking really)

Haven't played Pyre yet, most likely won't play Transistor ever.
Of the other two - Hades is far superior on all fronts for me.

Hades > Transistor > Pyre > Bastion

Hades has the most story content, and replayability. You would hope so, since it was designed that way. So if I only had one Supergiant game to play, it would have to be Hades.

That said, even though I ranked Hades first, Transistor is probably my favourite. The characters there, the ones no longer, and piecing together the world, along with extremely satisfying combat, just chef kiss. Especially the world. I have a feeling most people didn't figure out what everything was, which is a shame, because the world is beautiful.

Pyre felt odd, but was fresh and solid. Can't say I had any urge to replay it though.

Bastion was good... but honestly nothing about it was great. It just lacked any single thing to make it stand out. You can point to almost anything in the game, and say that was (really) good, but not outstanding. That's why I rank it last.

I played all the games in order of release. Bastion got a playthough and a bit, Pyre got one, Transistor got 3, 4 maybe more, and Hades is just kind of ongoing, although I started a new save for 1.0.

(And yes, I'm aware this is an old thread, but 1. It's necroed anyway and 2. It's still perfectly relevant)
