New secret boss great, but how to kill him?

I just start battle with him in thrid room of first floor, without any boons its looks like suicide.

Ideally take him on with a more proper setup. You can take him on in Tartarus but that involves being more experienced with the fight. You have a chance at the fight in Tartarus, Asphodel and Elysium any time you see the necessary item in mid-biome shops.

Nevermind, kill him in second run with fists, last phase pain, but still you dont need to kill him, only take 80% and he drop item)

I've played mostly the 4th aspect of the ardamant Rail. Dodge the Doublepaddle strike as it deals 50 damage, you might consider going for Artemis cast, dodge a lot and if you loose 2 or 3 death defiance that might be no big issue either , just done so on my last run and ended the run again with 3 death defiance avaliable after I've beaten hades.

Semi-related, how do you actually initiate the battle? I've seen the red coin in someone's video, but I don't get how to actually make it appear. Is it random?

To initiate the battle just keep visiting the mid-biome shops. That is to say if the shop is right before a standard boss you can't have this event occur. All you have to do is check near Charon and look for a bag that looks like the shop symbol when going through a door. when you get close it will prompt you to "borrow" 300 gold and the fight will ensue if you indeed borrow from Charon.

I believe it is for the current run. I may be wrong but that is what I believe to be true.
