Report a translation problem
Thing is, I am Greek, and I can definitely sit down and translate most of the parts if not the whole game, but since I am not a professional and can't/won't ask for a compensation, the last time I offered to do something like that for free on their Discord server, everyone downvoted the hell out of me like I said the worst thing ever and devs ignored my statement entirely, which, in turn, makes me demotivated to even bother to do so, I don't like attitude.
The more I think and remember about it, the more I realize my experience in the Discord server was not the best. lmao
The game is fine and I really liked it, some things are very weird though and I have noticed devs took some liberty on designs and relationship aspects, but I think the game is really worth it. I just wish the community wasn't as toxic and devs could care a bit more for something like a Greek translation at least which would make more sense to have than anything else. It's like, making a game based in Scandinavian mythology and having languages like French, Italian, Turkish and not Swedish or Finnish, etc.
I don't think discord is the place to have a legitimate conversation of any real substance and importance. No forum is. Forums are meant to give voice to all the people but the majority of the people should just remain silent because they have nothing constructive to offer.
If you really feel passionate about it, you could send a direct e-mail to the devs I guess. :)
I was with you at first but this implies that forums can't be a place of valid discussion at all, which is a false generalization. A structured forum can absolutely foster critical discussion and thought provoking conversation. Steam is not a structured forum. Discord is not a forum at all. Discord is essentially a customizable group chat. While you can have serious discussion through discord, the very nature of the platform makes it inherently difficult because it was never meant to act as a forum.
That aside though, I do agree with perhaps contacting the team through email (contact info @ their website). Again, as Discord is essentially a gigantic group chat, it's hard to tackle worthwhile topics without someone derailing. However, last I saw, they were not looking for translators for other languages at the current time, but there is this to take into consideration
I get the reasoning, still sucks to be fair.
I may try this out then, hopefully a dev will reply or at least be interested.
😬😬😬😬😬 This is a really terrible thing to say, yikes.
I suppose..... :

So, let me get this straight, in a Greek inspired / themed fantasy game like Hades, it is normal and not considered a bottom of a barrel, if we have languages like Polish, Russian, Korean, Spanish, Italian, German, French, etc, but Greek is the problem, huh? I don't know from what universe this person came from, but in this universe these languages are equally - if not less - NON* wide known to the world and last time I checked, they are not considered National Language, only American English as far as I know, and that not giving crap to the countries and the languages, every language is different and special, but I can't stand seeing bs like "Greek is a bottom barrel of a language" garbage talk.
^This comment is not aimed at you btw, Carnivore, it is aimed to lifetake, which, I still try to get the reasoning, but it sucks bad.
Again, the feedback channel isn't really worth taking seriously because it's set up for people to drop anything that crosses their mind, and votes are reactionary. It's not meant to be seen as a form of discussion because people will naturally up or downvote based simply on whether they personally like an idea or not, which is the entire idea behind the feedback channel since it moves so fast.
If you have a serious desire to see Greek translation added, you're better off trying to inquire through email rather than #Feedback. I think for now SGG focused on some of the more prevalent languages, which is fair. But as I posted further up, there is a section in their translation FAQ that states they may consider additional languages after launch. All you can do is contact them, or hope Greg pops in here with a more detailed response.
So no don't pretend like Greek being more bottomed barrel is BS. It makes sense especially given this is a indie studio. I know you say you get the reasoning but the call back portrays that to be incorrect.
Honestly, I don't know what I meant to say exactly... >_>?
I have shιtty experiences with discord, reddit, wikias, etc. with their holier-than-thou self-policing garbage policies but "Forum" was definitely the wrong word.
Forums such as the one we are chatting through right now are perfectly fine and everyone should have a voice here because we keep it respectful, but in other places where mob mentality prevails, most people should just shut the hell up.
The voiceover in Hades is English-only. We have no plans for alternate voiceover languages. We are still completing the English-language content as part of our Early Access development, adding many hundreds of new voice lines in each of our Major Updates.
While Hades is inspired by Greek myth, it takes place in an ancient time and with characters who would not natively speak modern Greek, or any existing language. Given this, using English made sense to us, as our studio's native language; it allowed us to develop a speaking style for each character that made sense to us in the context of our world.
Greek is not one of the text languages we are currently supporting. We expect to consider additional language options after our v1.0 launch, planned for sometime later this year. We appreciate your understanding.
