Do you use aim assist?

I'm asking because it's turned on by default. I turned it off first thing, but having trouble hitting things with the rail and spear special. The hitbox is very narrow and it makes it easy to miss. People say they love the rail and spear special builds and it makes me think they have aim assist on. Or maybe im just bad haha..
Also, im playing with the controller so that's also a factor.

aim assist helps alot with a controller if your facing a direction itll auto target nearest facing thing and help correct your aim, if your running keyboard mouse i strongly advise turning it off.

It feels like cheating to me, thats why I turned it off. I did try it on skelly tho and its crazy how easy it is do dash attack with the rail and such with aa turned on.
Was just wondering what the general consensus on the matter is here :)

It's a single player game. Turning on a feature is not cheating.

Well, thats debatable. You can still cheat in single player games. It IS a feature in the game, yes, but its the same as some people refuse to turn on god mode, even tho it's a part of the game and they are struggling.

its turned on by default so im guessing the devs want it that way, that being said i still found the game challenging with it (im bad games)

sometimes you ever wish you had it turned of, but it's mostly quite convenient. aiming is not a core skill this game tests, though, so the fun is not diminished by autoaim.

I 100% dont think its cheating, this is an arcade beat'em up style game, not sniping simulator. sometimes having it on sucks pretty hard and you point in a random direction, at the wrong enemy, or an enemy you cant even reach. personal preference, sometimes I turn it on or off depending on certain bosses or enemy comps.

I would definitely turn it off for rail or spear specifically. they force you to aim in the wrong direction because of their increased range on many occasions, anyway aim assist isnt going to turn them from noobs to god level gamers or vice versa.

I didn't even realize the game supported a controller. Why would I want to use an objectively inferior interface tool? Didn't realize there is an auto aim option either because it definitely doesn't work with mouse aiming.

I hate to admit this, but After playing many runs with mouse and keyboard, I played with controller once and beat the game for the first time. anyway this is a pretty good game to just play from the couch casted to a tv.

the controls are more visceral with a controller

If I remember correctly, the game even suggests playing with a controller. But yeah its hard being consistently accurate with the joystick using ranged attacks
