Is Chaos Shield the best for high heat?
For me, the Chaos Aspect of the shield is outperforming every other weapon and aspect by a very large margin. With Arthur Sword (my second best weapon aspect), it took me several tries to get a successful 30 heat run, whereas with the chaos shield I could easily streak from 24 to 28 heat, beat 32 heat on the first attempt and 35 heat on the third attempt with 100 life, 2 revives and skelly tooth still available.

The damage isn't crazy high most of the time, but you can get a decent build pretty much every single time, because the chaos shield works well with almost all boons and it is incredibly safe.
With most other builds I feel like there are enemy configurations that can really mess you up.

Has anyone else had similar experiences? I'm usually the last to cry overpowered, but if your goal is to beat a lot of heat, I really don't see anything else even coming close to the Chaos Shield.

Pretty much. Zagreus Bow is also good but not quite there.

Especially hades fight is a joke with the shield. It's very hard to lose even 1 life against him with it.

I like the shield. It's even allowing the voice of Chaos to come through from time to time. My personal favorit though I like the aspect of Guan-Yu as well. It's so strong and you can always try to keep your range.

I personally find the twin fists to be absolutely unstoppable. My favourite weapon hands down. I like the shield, I just find it boring.

Go with twin fists and try my build:

Load your attack, dash and call skills with Athena, Take Artemis for Special attack, then take Demeter for crystal cast plus ravenous will. Not necessary but take it near the end if it happens to be there.

Substitute Artemis for call boon if you don't get her special attack boon. You need one primary to trigger deadly reversal is all.

Then take as many Hermes and Artemis support skills as you can

Support fire plus pressure points is absolutely ridiculous with twin fists.

Clean kill

Hide breaker if it pops up, but if you upgraded the fists with breaching cross from a hammer, then you dont need it.

Deadly reversal is also great with the fists

And crystal clarity is nice but not needed if everything fell into place. If it didn't, then it is your backup plan, it does a lot of damage in the Hades fight if needed.

For weapon upgrades do not take any of the ones for your special. Only the ones for attack

lowest priority is long knuckle.

Rolling knuckle and Breaching cross are the best choices.

Concentrated Knuckle or long knuckle only if you don't roll those two.

With this build you will basically be holding down the attack button the entire time, while tapping dodge without touching your D pad unless you need to dodge a trap. You will literally never take damage except from behind if you're not careful... Or from poison/Satyrs.

The fists punch so fast (especially with a hermes boon) that they will deflect everything.

The intermittent dashing just provides bonus 1000% dash attack damage against armour from breaching cross.

When you get comfortable you might toss in a couple special attacks for style because Shoryukens are cool.

I routinely stand still in the Hydras face and just punch all 50 of his bullets right back at him (you can only do this if you have rolling cross by the time you reach him, because it eliminates the pause between combos)

I also pretty much never stop punching the Minotaur and completely ignore Thesius because all his spears get deflected automatically.

In fact, Styx is the only place you have to actually pay attention, because the fists are short range, you have to focus on one/two enemies at a time so you can eat it from the traps down there if you get lazy, or dash into poison pools because you're moving around so much

You will absolutely MELT every single boss in the game. Hades is LOL with this build, just try it and trigger Athena for aid when your meter is full.

In fact, the only somewhat tricky fight will be the Furies depending on how well you advanced the build by the time you reach them.

Enjoy!

This is about high heat, so what is the highest heat you managed to beat with fists?

Right now I'm on 10 heat (going one at a time for bounties) and I have yet to run into any issues with it not keeping pace thus far. The DPS is exceptional.

learning to crowd control with it does take practice, but once you get the rhythm down, it's easy.

Let the game auto target your dashes and leave the D-pad alone unless you absolutely must get out of the way.

Well idk about others but I would consider 32+ to be 'high' and I would say fists might be the worst choice for that. I did 32 with them and it was not an enjoyable experience and I am not looking forward to replaying that or higher.

Well, when I get closer to the 30s I'll report back. Again, Judging by how easy heat 10 was with this build, I don't expect to hit a plateau with it any time soon.

This is why I want someone to try this build on higher heat and let me know how it goes. I don't want to make the instant jump from 10 to 30, lol.

People have different favourites for weapons for a reason. I, for one, can't play worth a damn with the Stygian Blade. Zagreus slips and slides everywhere with it, I can't get the hang of it at all. I know it has great potential, but even with a Stygian blender type build it's a coin flip for me to make it through.

Fists works for me, Shield, Rail Gun and Bow.

Spear is... OK, but I can only pull it off with one or two specific weapon upgrades.

Sword is trash for me right now.

I would break heat in a few categories based on personal experience:

0-20: literally anything works
20-32: you need a decent/good build
32-40: not using certain specific weapons is pushing it + a good build
40+: only a selected few aspects work + getting lucky with your boons/seeds

with 40+ your build has to pass the following checks:

- not getting you hit preferably at all (your means of healing are Defiances, hearts and some wacky stuff like Quick Recovery)
- dealing with double Benefits Package mobs (DPS/AOE/single target)
- being potent with extremely limited options (your boons choices/mirror upgrades are severely limited)
- 7 min per biome timer (by far the biggest run killer)
