Can someone explain the boons UI?

Maybe I missed something, but I don't know that the game explains how to use the menu of boons on the left side of the screen while you are on a run. Hitting Back/Share takes you over the to the boons on the left side of the screen, where you can see your 5 boon types, and then, to the rights, are slots for 3 more boons for each type.

Is there a guide or explanation for how this all works? I can hover over a boon and hit A/X and select it... what does that mean? How do I know if getting a new boon will replace or just augment another boon?

All of that stuff is visual. All boons you have are always active. The back button brings you to a way to look at your boons and you can select them to view multiple at the same time. Most people use this for screenshots.

To note tho you can only have one attack, one special, one cast, one dash, and one call. If you are ever offered a new attack dash ect they will replace your current one(Hermes and chaos are different)
