What is the save symbol?

I'm just curious about this, there is a symbol that appears all over the place in the game; in Hades' beard, in the save symbol, on doors and floors etc. It forms a diamond at the bottom with the lines crossing in the middle, then curving back together towards the top, maybe a bit like a deer head?

I'm just wondering if this is a new symbol that was created for the game, or if it's an existing one with some kind of meaning behind it?

It means nothing.

It is just a reference to Hades's mustache beard.

In the world of this game, this sigil represents Hades' fated authority over the Underworld -- it's his symbol.

While it was created for this game, it's inspired by historic iconography representing the cosmos and gods (see references such as Ptolemy's Almagest[en.wikipedia.org]). While this work was created much later than the time period in which Hades presumably takes place, our thought was that Hades' sigil could have been the type of symbol that later informed the astrological symbols more familiar to us.

When you see Zagreus on the main menu, you can see traces of other such symbols on the Stygian Blade, one for each of the six gods who slew the Titans.
