Tell me I'm wrong about Keepsakes
Pretty much every single run I use:

Tartarus: Chthonic Coin Purse
Asphodel: Bone Hourglass
Elysium: Bone Hourglass
Styx: Broken Spearpoint
Legendary: Shady

I never really feel like there is any reason for me to use any other Keepsakes than these.

Would be interested if someone were to tell me that actually there are some good reasons to sometimes use some of the other Keepsakes instead?

God Keepsakes are great for shaping the build. If you find yourself in a situation you need one specific god, just put the relevant keepsake on.
I also like starting with Chaos for better boons at start.

I usually start with the Pierced Butterfly. It carries me until Styx and then I switch to a defensive boon like the Acorn or Lucky Tooth.

I usually pick a God keepsake or chaos egg for tartarus, pick a complimentary god keepsake for asphodel, then switch to lambent plume for elysium and styx. Lucky tooth is also good.

To the posters recommending Pierced Butterfly and Lambent Plume: the bonuses these Keepsakes give have always seemed lame to me - say, if I manage to meet their requirements 20 times through the course of the run, that's still only 40% bonus damage or 24% dodge chance, which doesn't seem that special compared to what I can get from boons?

At the moment I am starting each run with 6 Fated Authority thanks to the Mirror of Night, and thanks to those I can often find the God I want if convert a couple of Poms of Power (though admittedly not always) - though I suspect when we receive the new uses for Darkness in the next update, I will not have so many Fated Authority any more.

I might try a run now starting with the Cosmic Egg rather than the Coin Purse as you mentioned, that looks like it could be a good way to get a strong foundation for a build at the start of a run.

Say you get lucky and get a 20% chance to dodge from Hermes boon, then you have a 20 point lambent plume, that's 40% chance to take 0 damage from a hit. Any hit. All of them, maybe, if you're really lucky. Consider hades, whose big stupid spinning attack does a butt load of damage, completely whiffing that attack 2/5 of the time. If we assume that one attack does 25 damage, you've basically increased your hp by 50 for every 5 swings he makes. Apply this to all enemies you face. It adds up.

I usually start with a god keepsake, which along with 6 rerolls really helps with getting the early legendaries to shape the build.
In asphodel im usually taking another god keepsake, or if Im happy with my boons I just take the coin purse.
In elysium Im taking the achilles one, and in styx either lucky tooth or the evergreen acorn, depending on how many death defiances I have.
the legendary is always shady though, and I feel like everyone except speedrunners use this aswell. Its just too useful.

I normally go: God #1, god #2, coin purse, then something useful for the last boss, which might be skelly's tooth, broken spearpoint, bone hourglass, acorn, skull earring, distant memory or myrmidon's bracer depending how the run is going, what weapon I'm using etc. With some runs there's no need for god #2.

Broken spearpoint I don't find that amazing unless I'm lifestealing or going for some kind of melee blitz build where I'm actually going to be hit multiple times in a second or two without some kind of god call immunity.

The value of locking in the primary god you need for a build/weapon always seems much bigger to me than getting the 150 coins a bit earlier.

Pierced Butterfly provides a bonus damage on all the damage you deal capping at 20% I believe, which is in addition to any bonus your boons provide. When you start to get boons that make you deal damage in the 100s, a 20% damage boost is kinda noticeable. I'm quite comfortable with it.

I usually take god's keepsake for the 2 or 3 first zones to get the build i want (or at least a better chance to get it).

I almost never use the same keepsakes over and over. The one I use the most is probably Chaos', but otherwise I rotate depending what synergies I have going or just what I feel like doing. I have multiple 10+ clear streaks doing this (on escalating Heat) and honestly consider keepsakes as one of the lowest impact choices in the runs, which makes picking whatever you want the easiest.

Worth noting, Pierced butterfly does not cap and effects all damage. So if you combine pierced with Eris aspect on Rail it's very very good. It'll enhance even poison builds to ridiculous levels. If i didn't need 150 from Cthonic coin purse with the price increases and preferred build security through god trinkets i'd still be running pierced butterfly lol.

I'm still at low heat and not consistently successful with the game, but I do enjoy the feeling that keepsakes seem to have minimal impact to with my overall performance.

Certain keepsakes can have a big impact in certain situations but room-to-room they tend to have a low impact and are just about customizing to your style a bit. Keepsakes seem to be about a decision that will affect you once, or just an overall small passive buff. Skelly's Tooth is probably the single biggest impact one IF you end up needing it (also it's worth 200+ gold compared to buying a defiance restock).

I've also been using keepsakes just to level them up, even the "weak" ones, and the keepsake itself has never been the reason I've lost a run.

Chaos>God1>God2> damage reduction if on low defiance increased damage on low health otherwise

When you just start the game and need darkness, chaos>nyx is fantastic. Uses chaos/Poseidon for increased darkness multiplier and the availability of darkness lets you full heal after about every second encounter. Strongly recommended to learn enemy moves.

I have yet to see a reason not to go with the first sequence for any serious run though... Early chaos pickup can define your run and you'll have the basis of some kind of build after Tartarus, so getting your duo boons or other build relevant boons is quite strong.
