Does fishing perfect catch matters?

I've been tracking what i get while fishing... and it would seems sometimes that doing perfect catch is almost meaningless even tho it's pretty hardcore...... for instance, i had an amazing run with 4 perfect catched fishes... and the exchange rewards were lame compared to a run where i only had 1 perfect catch and 2 normal catches..... does it actually matter?

I know fishing minigame just came out (and quite frankly i love it xD) but i was wondering if we have some info on this

It feels like some fish are only caught with a perfect catch. I know I've never caught a Scyllascion (or whatever it's called) without it being a perfect catch, same with the narwhal in Styx. But then sometimes a perfect catch also gives me a knucklehead, and a scuffer, so it's clearly not a guaranteed better catch, and they don't seem to provide more exotic materials anyway, just more gems.

I didnt even know there was a perfect catch... Gonna have to look out for that.

It's just a theory, but i think the first time you caught a kind of fish you get a great reward, after that it's a lower one for that same kind of fish.

Hope it's not the case, it would suck and it's not like fishing spots are common thing, also... its quite fun as mini game

I got the same impression. But I never knew there is a perfect catch. How do I know if it was a perfect catch?

When you catch a fish it either says "catch" and the fish name or "perfect catch" and the fish name.

I think the theory of being different rewards from first time catching and subsequent ones might be right on the money.... for the first time i got a fish in chaos realm, some kind of jellyfish.... and it got me titan blood among gems and stuff with the other fishes....... first time that happens....

its a bit sad tho... since perfect catch is no easy feat.... and it seems the rewards are meager (3 perfect catches and about 70 gems and nothing more? thats really lame)

you can see it when you catch it, the labeled text will be either "catch" or "perfect catch" (the promotional video for the update shows both on the fishing part)

To actually pull one, your timing must be hardcore accurate, and to do so you must catch it as soon as you see the "flash" (at least thats how i pull it, i get stupid close to the screen and muster my jedi mindset XD)

Regarding the original post, I can't say for sure what the effect is but the script creates a weighted table for the fish caught and uses FishingState as an argument. It seems that perfect catches change the weighting for which is randomly chosen (from that biome's table).

Fishing is so hard, i'ev managed to pull up one single fish one time, and that was no perfect catch. Those must be really hard to get.

It's purely a reaction time thing. For me personally, to get perfect catches, I have to basically stare and not blink.

No, i did not know that, I thought you were suppose to press when the blobb when underwater, as in real fishing. But next time i'll look for some sort of flash.
