Spear Aspects inferior?
So it seems to me like...

Sword and Railgun have Aspects that give you straightforward easy-to-use boosts to your damage

Shield and Bow have Aspects that change the way their Attack or Special moves work in fun and useful ways with no significant drawbacks

...whereas the Spear has two Aspects that give you a damage boost in exchange for first using a move that leaves you vulnerable, in one case by dumping you within reach of your enemy's attacks (when the main benefit of your weapon is supposed to be that you can hit everything from a safe distance), and in the other case by making you stand still and charge up a spin attack (unless you are lucky enough to get the Quick Spin hammer upgrade).

And the boosts you get in return don't even last that long, especially in the case of Raging Rush.

Tell me I'm wrong?

Zag aspect bonus is good. It makes the special an actually functional attack.

I agree that Achilles is kind of weak. The bonus needs to be bigger or it needs to last for more hits.

Hades aspect is strong as hell. It lasts a long time and the damage boost is huge. You just need to learn the timing. I note that YOU DO NOT NEED TO DO A FULL CHARGE UP. As soon as Zag takes the spear in the air stance you can release it and get the debuff. I have found the range on spin hammer to be worth more than the quick charge hammer though I'll take both on a Hades run.
hades aspect is great; you dont need to max charge it; and instead of releasing it you can dodge to get extra range on punishing sweep; just mix it into your attacks and its a big attack boost (alternatively spin2win with both spin hammer mods is legit; i was getting 1k crits per sweep a day ago)

achilles im not sold on; i know people like it for the spell amp aspect... but i still think its better than zag aspect

zag aspect doesnt really give you anything; the the bonus range is never needed and can actually be detrimental to an exploding build; which is the only time youll be spamming your special anyway

Interesting replies, thanks. I will have to give the Hades Aspect another try.

What do you mean by "spell amp aspect"?

I think it means people use this aspect mainly for cast.

Achilles aspect + artemis cast tree gives you over 1k crits on your casts which can be boosted with aphrodite qnd chaos. It is also really fun to dart around, dodge attacks with bull rush and combo your skills.

The Eternal Spear is the most imbalance weapon in the game. All runs can be completed without taken damage with far range tactics (the main feature) You need full Zagreus Aspect + Exploding Launcher + (Extending Jab or Armor Skewer). On Special - Artemis or Poseidon. On attack - Aphrodite. Dash - Athena. Duos - Spent Spirit + (Heart Rend or Sweet Nectar). Enjoy easy runs...

P. S. Spin attack is trash...

no it isnt, punishing sweep is a massive damage boost and easy to slip into attacks

your damage doesn't make any sense, if you can take damage from foes

faster kill = faster run = less damage taken or potential to ♥♥♥♥ up

particularily relevant with the speed pact

faster run = not guarantee to win
no damage to yourself = guarantee to win

you realise that when you take to long in a region with the speed pact you start dying right?

I don't think it's a big deal if some weapons like the spear or the bow play a bit slower. The speed pact is not obligatory and its just 2/5 heat.

I have no intention of using the speed pact until it is absolutely required as I go up in my heat runs...

some weapons are better than others so are some aspects

I find that just using the first aspect and chasing artemis around really makes for an easy run. I do enjoy the spear, still prefer the bow and the hera aspect - just loading up with weakness casts or tipsy shot is just so much fun!
