"Giving up" is "Losing progress"... I've lost way too much.
I thought it would just end my run.
Not make it as it NEVER happened in the first place...

It's probably written in the warning, but when you are angry, you don't read that much, really.
Should have make it a "quit game" or "return to menu", it's only after the 3rd time i use it that i realise it was weird i couldn't unlock my last weapon when i obiviously earned a lot of key

...So rip, 6 keys, 3 nectar, lots of darkness thanks to chaos, story progression and so on...

Then don't rage quit during a battle I guess.
Just let yourself get killed if you really want to leave.

Yeah, i know, but i didn't thought at first that give up would be simply make you lost everything. I learned it the hard way, but that's a bad way of naming a "quit game" option, imo.

There's a quit game option, but it changes to give up if you took damage, choosing a chaos boon and stuff like that. You can quit if you're done with a room or just entered it.
doesnt it warn you when you first click it?

Never pressed the button before, but yeah that sucks

Having a button that servers no function other than to trip-up players who don't know about it is dumb.

It's a Give Up button and not a quit button so you can't save scum. Althought that probably should just kill you instantly and send you back to the house instead.

Yeah they should change Give Up to this and add something like Restart Run and make it the same as Give Up is now.

After reading it, it does, but when i lost my whole life to a single armored chariot who ram me into a wall in two second, i just went mad and quickly gave up. Now i know, but that was not a pleasant way to find out. x)

Not blaming the game tho, it was clearly written.

I feel You so hard there, brother. I will add on this the following points about stupidity of "give up" option:
1) It is not consistent. General design rule is that it should be give up in rooms with enemies, and quit - in rooms that are clear or hadn't enemies in it in the first place. THAT IS NOT HOW IT WORKS. I have a screenshot for everyone alive to witness, that You can be in a middle of a fight and have Quit option instead of Give up, WICH MAKES 0 SENSE.
2) On top of that, SOMETIMES You get GIVE UP IN EMPTY ROOM, such as Temple of Styx Hub room. What is it, Cerberus being here counting as an enemy?!
3) Moreover, if Your game CRASHES (LIKE MINE) IN THE MIDDLE OF A BOSS FIGHT, IT ALSO CONSIDERS AS YOU GAVE UP. AND NOBODY WILL ACTUALLY WARN YOU, OR BE LIKE "yeah, you haven't had control over it, here's Your previous room, we will not refund You health though, so brace Yourself", NO, YOU HAD A CRASH, WICH IS OUR SPAGHETTI CODE GUILT? TOO BAD, BETTER LUCK NEXT TIME.

How about doing it in a way, that DOES NOT SUCKS? Like, instant-saving upon quitting? I believe such thing can be easily implemented. Red Hook studious did so just fine with the Darkest Dungeon, and it is one in a million siituation for that game to fail saving over you quitting it in any meaningful moment. But no, we will implement give up, and it will reset runs of people, who experience game crash, WICH THIS GAME IS SUSSEPTIBLE TO.

I don't have issue with this button, only crash is an issue which you have to start over, it's frustrating, yes.

Looks like the button will turn into "give up" when you take damage in a fight. If you didn't take any damage, the button will remain quit.

Some room which offer you choice will turn into give up if you make a decision too.

this is still flawed by design. Why don't just instant-save upon quitting for hp, DD, boons, poms, etc. That would solve all the problems and would be much better. The question is not what Give up option tries to solve, but how it hampers and harms expirience of people by not-intended occurances over wich people not always have control (not even starting to talk about ambigiouty of the option, since it can appear as Give up in TEMPLE OF STYX HUB, CARL, devalues any good it would-be getting. Say I boot up a run in the morning and took a little longer than I expected, and I have to go afk for an extensive period of time. The choice presented to me in case of game turning into "give up" mood is to either yeet the run in dumpster, or fry my PC the entire day until I am back. Even though all of this could easily be prevented - just save-state my health upon hitting quit button, not at the start of the room. That's all it takes. And save-state after picking up the boon, so I can't back out of it by quitting. Just that simple solution would've solve the issue wich, as I am sad and glad simultaniously to see, hampers not only mine, but someone else's expirience with the game, wich only proves, that it is a problem.
UPD. also, yes, I want to have a free will of exiting the game at any moment without losing ALL my progress. Make me save-state with Hades's 50 damage strike flying in my face, that's fair and square, make me restart the fight but having hp and DD's as they were upon quiting, that's okay, I will accept it gladly OVER A DAMN RESET WICH DEVALUES ALL MY TIME SPENT IN THE DAMN RUN.

Well, the issue should not be about me having or not secondary device to end my runs wich happen to be crashed. And for me that already happened twice, and since then I am restraining myself from playing (even though I want really badly), because I do not want even more of my time just devalued by another crash-reset, over which I have no control whatsoever.
