Also, just to make sure - are you upgrading your boons during the run?
But seriously though, sometimes the build you get through some runs makes it feel like the enemies are more tanky... Then on some runs you get good damage boons and enemies are somehow butter... It's just a matter of luck I guess? Maybe the weapons, too..
Boons can alter play style drastically, for example Ares doom boons are often better for hit and run tactics. When you start finding hammers you'll find they often drastically increase your killing power.
You'll get to grips with what most of the boons are and how they can stack eventually plus mirror unlocks like back attack, damage up against enemies with bloodstones in then and later the dual status damage (+50% at max level can make a massive difference on the right build).
Bow with Artemis crit attack, twin shot and explosive blast hammer upgrades often is a game winner for me. Some silly numbers start appearing, that run I was twin shoting over 1k x2 with crits.
The damage upgrades are locked behind the mirror and weapon aspect levels, but don't worry, it doesn't take that much time to unlock.
If you want to quickly improve your damage for every run, I suggest you to prioritize the Boiling Blood, Infernal Soul and Privileged Status upgrades with the mirror.
With the right builds (knowing how to apply 2 status curses consistently), it will simply double the amount of damage you deal with literally anything.
Do keep in mind that some weapon aspects are A LOT stronger at max level (I'm looking at you Chaos Shield), so try not to upgrade everything at once and focus on what you'd be best with.
Example:
First boss I counter with Special Athena's Deflection. Her big missile spam just WRECKS her if I apply a bullet hell streaming strategy. Gently dodge the first projectile and them spam special, which naturally moves me out of any oncoming bullets I might miss, all while deflecting tons back for massive damage.
Second boss: Deadelus Hammer Armor crush. Given how all the adds have armor and tons of HP, simple reasons.
etc etc. If I don't have a specific counter, obviously I have to change my play style and adapt to needing to know how enemies behave but when things go well they go REALLY well.
I feel like this only true of the spear and maybe the shield. The bows dash attack is kinda weird and unlike the others, it makes it so that if you charge an attack immediately after dashing it charges faster. The guns dash attack quickly fires 2 shots, if you're timing is immaculate you can use it to attack pretty much as fast as your attack fires. Finally the swords dash attack does just as much damage as third thrust portion of your combo. IMO double edge is the strongest upgrade you can get because of the sheer volume of damage it lets you output in such a short time frame.
The swords dash attack does so much damage that focusing entirely on the dash attack with nemesis aspect I was able to pull a sub 20 minute clear on like heat 5 with not much effort outside of properly executing the dash attack almost every time. I personally think it's far and away the best strategy for the sword. Imo poseidon aspect is just a gimmick.
