When you find yourself wanting to spam attack take a second to think about whether or not it's really a good idea. I've found much more success taking a step back and thinking through my attacks in advance. Additionally I think the dash attack build is the strongest build for Zagreus or Chiron Aspect simply because the dash attack Daedalus Hammer boon is insane. For Poseidon Aspect you're clearly best off trying to force Artemis with her cast and if you're lucky you can get exit wounds as well as more ammunition.
I pretty much always start with Cosmic Egg on every weapon and hold onto it until Elysium where I usually switch to an Olympian keepsake that I feel like I need in order to get a boon that ties my build together. For my final swap before Styx I take Skellys Tooth if I have both at least two damage taken reduction perks and at least 150 hp. If either of those aren't true I take Eurydices Acorn because I'm absolutely certain at level 3 it provides far more effective hp against Hades than the tooth simply because Hades hits like a truck.
The Poseidon Sword is only worth it as a stat stick and dislodger for Cast builds. It can be really, really fun though to use. It is better than the Hera Bow in my opinion. I indeed have leveled it up and when I tire of gunning down everything it's a neat change of pace.
The spin hit box is pretty manageable if you dodge through Hades to get behind him. When he starts the attack he takes a moment then dashes towards where you were when he began the windup. If you run towards him then dash behind him he'll spin dash away from you so you can avoid it pretty easily if it's the only attack you need to worry about at the moment. If there's other stuff on the screen to worry about though you can definitely get caught in it and it does in fact hit for an insane amount of damage.
Because that one time i beat the first boss in normal mode(farthest i got with the sword), i was using the dash damage and deflect boons. Just dashing around like a madman evading & deflecting attacks and occasionally using special when surrounded. Very minimal incentive for standard (left click) attacks because there was almost no safe opening.
So i feel using the sword i can get far by picking the dash damage and deflect boons, almost no need to use its attacks?. Im not sure i like this playstyle, and any weapon could do that too, not just the sword.
Other than that, i like this game A LOT.
I'm looking forward to see your guide :)
I think ill level up Poseidon Aspect some more, and see how that work for me.
I managed to succeed once I had Poseidon Aspect though, it makes a casting build REALLY good.
You can win with the shield by simply getting poseidon dash and comboing dash with the normal attack. I just beat heat 4 by doing that pretty much alone...
The bow is super safe and has NUMEROUS good build options.
The spear is excellent, great range and it's special is great.
The rail is unique, I have one with it more succesfully then the sword, but it's kind of build dependent...
My personal trash vote goes to bow. There's exactly one build I've managed to make work with it - the alt-fire doom. Even that worked mostly because I got Athena dual-boon for instant doom proc. Every other option suffers from severe lack of mobility, damage and/or clear speed, and the whole thing is horrendously inflexible. If you start getting Poseidon or Aphrodite - you might as well suicide your run and start over.
I never play God Mode just play in normal, already use sword beat heat3 hades.
If use nemesis I focus in dash attack and special attack, the combo is simple just special+dash attack*n and loop.
You can use keepsake "Broken Spearpoint" in 3rd/4th area it really helps a lot avoiding damage.
And dash attack on sword is the most smooth/easy to use, has Double Edge making it hit twice too.
You can check other player using it on youtube, for example https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=etZficqoBf4
You don't really need to dodge all the attacks, you barely have no time to dodge when playing heat with Tight Deadline which has time limit.
I'm not gonna derail the topic into the merits of the bow, simply say that this weapon's builds are heavily tied to getting Daedalus boons, because some of them are crazy good and change drastically this weapon's playstyle.
