Titan Blood Economy
I don't really get why the Titan Blood system works the way it does right now. The idea of getting your first set by using all the different weapons against the first boss "works" and makes sense, but apparently to get any more you have to... Beat the entire game? (I mean, not "The entire game" but, you know, the final boss of any particular run)

I find this weird because Titan's Blood isn't instanced per weapon, and there's no current respec options (that I've found, I've room to be wrong here) so the opportunity cost of even *trying* one of the upgrades is GIGANTIC. So far as I can tell if you don't like the first or second thing you try, your options for trying more are beating the game (and then apparently making the game harder) or wiping your save file, all just so you can see what your options even ARE.

Now maybe it's just because I'm bad at the game (stuck on the bone hydra at the moment) but that seems to be a rather tall order, and super doesn't seem to jive with the system in the game that encourages you to constantly be swapping weapons from run to run when you can only have one or two of them upgraded, and even then that'd be just partially upgraded. Now don't get me wrong, I don't expect to be able to upgrade all the weapons to the max in all their forms immediately or whatever, but I'd like a little space to experiment with different setups without having to, you know, beat the game first. Since I might need a different setup than what I currently have to actually beat the game for the first time, but now I can't get it because...

Well, you see where I'm going with this.

Wait, I actually don't fully understand the Titan's Blood thing, other than I stopped getting them (cause I only use the Shield).

So if you can get more Titan's blood using all the different weapons, isn't that enough to unlock all the variants?
Rhinkalis Dec 18, 2019 @ 7:55pm
No, because each variant has 5 levels (as far as I've seen talked about, anyway) so, for example, the Zagreus Aspect costs at least 5 to cap out (possibly more, I know some of the other upgrades get more expensive as you rank them) so to cap out 1 weapon's Zagreus Aspect would take at least 5 blood, you get 1 blood per weapon you kill the first boss with, and math says you're going to have a lot of trouble upgrading much of your gear.

Now it's possible that this is then true again for the 2nd boss once you get the Diamond from killing them the first time, and then additionally true for each subsequent boss, but I don't think so because I've seen other people talking about how you need to use the Heat system you unlock from clearing a run to get more Blood after, I think, the first 5. Now there's clearly some gaps in my knowledge so I'm prepared to have someone step in and tell me I just don't understand the system, but the system, as far as I can see it, seems a little wonky.

I nearly beat Theseus my first time in Elysium in basic mode. So I can see getting loads of blood on just minor difficulty increases happening there. Hell mode though is a huge step up. You are forced to run with the no invuln window on getting hit mod on Hell. You'll be amazed at how much damage that invuln window saves you once you play without it. I cannot beat the game on hell mode yet myself.

That said. You can occasionally buy a blood for 15 keys from the quartermaster. So its not something you are hard limited on.

Each aspect cost 15 Titan blood to be fully upgraded

Incorrect.

Maximizing the basic aspect always takes 5. The others tend to increase in cost.
As for Titan blood, you get 1 from the first boss and 1 from the last boss for every weapon on every heat level. You also get 10 once for beating the game with every punishment modifier (across multiple runs, not at the same time).

Beating the game normally with all 5 weapons awards 10 Titan Bloods, plus other 10 for the related prophecy. They're enough to unlock every aspect. After that, I haven't tried yet but I think that turning up the Heat with the Punishment Pact resets all bounties per weapon, so you can get 10 more at Heat Level 1 and so on.

But I'm not talking about upgrading each variant. I'm just talking about the variants themselves.

As long as you have access to the variants, it doesn't really matter whether you can actually upgrade them or not.

Oh and apparently once you get to the last boss, i think titan blood is now purchaseable. just got here. And the cost is reasonable. edit: nvm lmao i mistook nectar for ambrosia hahaha

Yah its something like 5000 gems per blood at the base conversion rate. Not that it really matters. Just do the 15 keys for a blood trade when it comes up.
Morton Koopa Jr. Dec 19, 2019 @ 10:23pm
Been saving up my keys for that! :D

You need 15-16 blood for a lv5 weapon, can check the wiki.

Maybe can quick run and save money, sell all your boons, buy it at 4th area shop.

some aspect just suck at low lv, it's normal people will hesitate lv it or not.
Rymdkejsaren Dec 20, 2019 @ 2:37pm
I do at least wish the game had a few more tutorial pop-ups letting you know some of these things. I spent all my blood once it was possible, but I quite regret it now.
Prosody Dec 20, 2019 @ 2:43pm
At the very least, the game should do a better job of informing players of the rules. I hadn't realized that these items is only dropped once per weapon. Playing the game normally, it just felt like a rare drop for me. I guess I can understand why the devs don't allow for respec'ing the upgrades either, but it's no fun to horde items in fear of misusing them.

I wasted my Titan Blood early, thinking that I'd be able to respec (like the mirror), and I feel like that early-game decision is putting me at a pretty significant disadvantage for completing the game.
Lorska Dec 20, 2019 @ 2:51pm
It doesn't put you behind. I had 10 or so before I even started using it. The really good aspects are rather expensive to rank up so you couldn't afford it anyway.

Really the only aspect that feels mandatory once you get it is the gun damage increase. Anything else is cool but far from required.
Rymdkejsaren Dec 20, 2019 @ 2:52pm
I do wish it allowed for respecs, even if it a cost a bit of something. Could be an item you buy in the shop or something.
