What does ambrosia do?
It is pretty confusing. In the Epic version there apparantly was ambrosia but also called nectar and got replaced by nectar later on as well as on steam. But besides that, there also is ambrosia which is a more upgraded version of nectar, it seems. But I have no idea what it does.

All I can find is that it adds some dialogue options to some characters, which does not really seem be... make much sense seeing how itu is a much harder to obtain type of nectar which then does way less than regular nectar.

There was one or two mentions about something having a small chance of giving a special keepsake. Anything anyone knows about it?

From what I can tell, when you give it to a person they give you a trinket. You need to have the glass case thing to actually use them though.

Anyone gives you a trinket? What kind of trinket?

Not everyone it seems. Some just give you a heart but I guess after a few they will give something. But yes majority of them give you a trinket, they give all sorts of benefits. You will find out yourself.

Every god/npc you can talk to you can give them nectar, and you get a trinket you can equip from some of them. They all have different effects.

From my understanding afterwards you can keep giving them nectar to the same npc and level up your relationship with them, eventually being able to give them ambrosia for other stuff

the 'you will find out yourself' is super helpful.

In the shop thing you can trade ambrosia for one of these upgrade things for weapons and I want to know whether it is better to invest in the ambrosia stuff because these trinkers are good and better than the keepsakes from nectar or can be used besides them, or that I should go for direct weapon buffs

Hey, there are resources in the game called Nectar and Ambrosia (among others).

They are each used as part of our character relationship system, where you can give gifts to many characters to raise your affinity with them.

Many characters will initially give you a Keepsake of some sort, which has a gameplay effect attached. Beyond that, this is for the most part an expressive system for you to get to know certain characters more deeply if you want to.

Some of the confusion you refer to may be due to the fact that Nectar used to be called Ambrosia, back when we did not have two separate resources for this. Ambrosia is the 'higher-level' resource used for some of the later interactions.

We hope you enjoy this system and invite your feedback.

well that much I know, but what kind of trinkets do you receive? can I have one example?
Zavi Dec 12, 2019 @ 1:02am
example : Take 20/30/40% less damage from the front, but 10% more from the back.

https://hades.gamepedia.com/Keepsakes

don't really know if this site is up to date, but with this you get the gist

You get a doll from that character that allows you to summon them and help you in fight. Megara for example does her AoE attack for massive damage. At the first you are limited to summoning them once per escape attempt but you can invest more Ambrosia in that special keepsake to be able to summon them more then once per run. You wear it in addition to any other regular trinket and you can't swap them after boss fight.

Now that sounds awesome! THanks, thats what I wanted to know.

So those dolls can be gotten from anyone? Or does not everyone give you something like how hades doesnt really give anything for it? And how do you get them to give that doll? Just once nectar and then give ambiosia and thats it?

@Zavi thats why its confusing, thats the old system. These are currently obtained with nectar. But there is no information on what to obtain with ambrosia

First you need to get a quest of sorts for that character. First you have to fill up all the hearts with nectar and you can only give ambrosia to a few characters at this moment.

As a hot pro tip: If you're having a lot of trouble progressing, Give the training dummy skeleton a nectar for his Lucky Tooth. It's a damn good trinket that outshines quite a few of the others! Achilles also has a pretty good one.
EvilShuckle Dec 12, 2019 @ 12:21pm
Isnt lucky tooth more like one of the worst? All it does is give one more revival, which you can already have three of. Sure, its not bad because it definitely is handy, but it is one of the worst trinkets I'd say.

It's also a stronger revival than standard IIRC.

Early on it helps you get feel for the game. Might want to swap it for the bracer or whatever suits your playstyle later.
