Hades II

There should be more ways to get Nightmare
I have finished everything there is to do in the game. Currently working on maxing out a few remaining arcana cards and keepsakes, and I still have 27 more nightmares to max out my weapons. This is a bit too much farming, especially since there is basically no way to constantly get more. They either randomly appear in Charon shop just before Chronos, or you can buy them for 1000 bones (and there is no particular way to farm those, so 1 Nightmare = 20 encounter bone rewards).

I have a lot of everything else, but not everything can be sold for bones, and what can goes at a ridiculous price, so selling everything I have would maybe give me 3 Nightmares. I think there should be more ways to get Nightmare. A few suggestions:
- Charon cards: I have no way to spend them as quickly as I earn them, so I am just building a stack. Either have a "5 (or more) cards for 1 Nightmare" trade, or make it so the cards can be sold to the broker for a good amount of bones.
- Make it appear more consistently in Charon's shop at the end: maybe there should be two slots for expensive rare items in that shop. Maybe one should always be a Nightmare. The possibility of buying a Charon card from there should probably be removed (you already get more than you can spend), to make it more likely to get something useful.
- Recipes for the cauldron: just like the moon dust, it would be nice to one or several recipes to make Nightmares out of other resources.

Probably the Fates list will have more things to be done and there will be more Nightmares as a reward.

But don't forget that in each run there's a weapon that will award you 2 bones per encounter. It doesn't seem much, but that helps a lot.
As well as fishing, they are supposed to be sold (I guess) and some fishes are worth a nice amount of bones as well.

you can take the cat with you + you can give here the pet food to gain up the chance for a fishing spot…

I always play with Toula and whatever weapon has the bone bonus. That is actually negligible. The best fish I have caught is a projelly, and it sells for 111 bones. You would need 9 of them for 1 Nightmare. I only ever caught 2 in total. As for the bone bonus, a complete run is around 40 encounter. So, 80 bones a run. Like I said, negligible when we are talking about 27 000 bones needed.

I can appreciate some farming, but let's say you get the bone bonus + 1 projelly + 6 bones reward per run (both unlikely), you still barely reach half a Nightmare per run with that. And we are talking about getting 27 of those!! It is literally longer to get that than to complete everything else in the game.

I think it is totally ok for early access, but that is definitely something that needs to be changed in the final version.

I just thought about another idea: runs completed above a certain level of fear could guarantee a nightmare.

Or just reduce the cost of upgrades. That works too.

You need 8 Nightmare to max out a single Aspect (except Melinoe). There are 10 Aspects, so to max out them all you need 80.
You get 30 out of Testaments. 5 is (i think) reward for the prophesy requiring using every Arcana to beat Chronos. That's under a half of what you need.
Way too much farm, IMO.

Exactly, even if you count all the bones rewards of all the prophecies, you still barely reach half. And that is assuming you only ever buy Nightmares with your bones, which defeat the whole purpose of the having a whole trade system.

Also, it seems there will at least be one other weapon added in the future, so 16 more Nightmares, with probably only 6 you can get from Testaments if it follows the same logic. So, 10 more to farm...

I really hope they will implement more options to obtain them.

You obviously have not finished everything there is to do in the game if you have not unlocked the Vows of Night...

Care to explain what you mean by "Vows of Night"? Do you mean the Oath of the unseen? Because I obviously 100% completed that, including the Champion of the night part that gets you the 3 statues. Otherwise I would need much more than 27 Nightmares...
