Hammer needs to be "rerollable"!!!
Alright everyone, I saw this discussion in the general section, I then looked for a similar one in the suggestions section but I didn't find anything, so I'm starting it: the Daedalus hammer absolutely needs to be rerollable. It already is much rarer than any boon so, when you find one that offers you, for example, 3 powerups to your omega attacks after you've primed 80% of your "mana", it's really frustrating... Especially if you find it super late... While it does make the game harder (which I assume is what devs are aiming for), to me, this one particular restriction only makes it "anti-fun"...

definitely agree. maybe it can be a more expensive reroll (2 tokens to start with instead of 1) but it really sucks when you're gunning for a hammer ability to bring your build together and you just don't get lucky. it's pretty much always better for consistency to just not bother with any build that hinges on a hammer buff (seriously. Double specials on the staff? I just had a run where I managed to get heroic lv 13 poseidon special for staff and from tapping special I could get like 4 specials out per second, the splash from poseidon boon was making that by itself like 500 dps, then 1 single hammer boon doubles it to 1000 dps) and just go for general stuff instead
Yeah, more expensive roll would make sense; I'd still "vote" for the same cost as any roll if I had to choose tbh :steammocking: , but if the devs went for double the price and added it, I'd be ok with it for sure!

PLEASE LET US REROLL HAMMERS, just spent an hour doing almost 10 runs trying to get a specific hammer upgrade, ran through so many ones and did not get what I was looking for, really sucks that you want to try a fun build or idea that requires a specific hammer and you have to just rely or RNG or either wait to die out or play out the run with a sub optimal build

Since this was also the case in Hades 1, I doubt they will change it.

Having said that, I also would like a reroll. However, I can see how doing this will make the 4 corner arcana (bottom left) basically a must have for all runs and trivialize a lot of content. Maybe make it cost 3 and only allow you to do it once as a middle ground?

I 100% agree with this. There is no worse feeling than getting boons/chaos bonus' that set up your special attack only to be given a hammer that upgrades your normal attack. It's quite literally a run ender at times if you get your first hammer in Oceanus.

I don't like it because every such change turns Rouge-like into Hack'n'slash. Gifts from the gods and rerolls are already enough to predetermine the build, in my opinion. But I won't yell that the game is over-simplified if this change is introduced :)

I'm okay with the first game lacking hammer rerolls, but this game focuses on one-button builds more than the first since most buttons are bimodal (like: special and omega special) and the aspects lack attack-to-special rotations (like Aspect of Chiron, Nemesis, etc). So sometimes you get all hammers for your off-button, but pivoting doesn't make sense 90% of the time, so it's just like... "Alright, I guess; dead hammer!"

I think rerolling hammers would feel nice. I like the idea of it costing two rolls. It's true that sometimes the frustration of a lock-in can enhance the experience of playing the game, but sometimes I just want to play a damn hook knives build and failing to get it three runs in a row feels bad. Two rolls feels like it could be a good middle point.

I quite like the two rolls cost suggestion.

I think we must get hammers re-roll option. Cos like in the first game u can just keep diyng till u get hammer first room. So re-rolls option just will save time.
Or devs can add some Crossroad function like player can set the first hammer he gets via weapon's screen. But make this function unlockable for something like "if u clear 32 once u get this perk".

I said this on the other thread but I think a good Idea would be for rerolls to only be able to roll ONE of the hammer options and probably only have one use per hammer, I know it sounds limited but the Hammer pool is just too small, some of the ideas people are proposing here are so broken it would make the whole thing pointless, most of the time you don't need a specific upgrade, you just need an upgrade that synergises well enough with your build.
Also making it cost 2 or more rolls doesn't really do anything when you can start with 10 of them.
