Chronos Door bug?

I was able to fight chronos for the first time, and when our character unlock the door.
Its wont open so I tried running around then i just simply pause and give up.
The game then throw me back to main menu. and when I load the save. that whole runs is gone. Is this chronos work?

"give up" ends your run so that's what is supposed to happen
as far as the door, it doesn't unlock. you have to dive in the water next to the door to fight chronos

Oh i see thank for the info.
As for "give up" will ends my run, I understand that. but its not just end my runs, it reverts my save back to before I about to starts that runs. Is it intentional ?

I thought it supposed to be like getting all the loots and just working similar to dying to something and go back at crossroad.
