Controller won't reconnect after disconnecting during play
Playing with a wireless Xbox one controller, I paused and went AFK for a while. During that time, the controller switched itself off (due to it being idle for too long). When I came back, attempting to re-connect with the controller failed.

What's more, tabbing out of the game, re-connecting the controller, then tabbing back into the game, would cause the controller to immediately disconnect again. So it's definitely a game-specific issue (never had this issue with other games where I use the same controller and have had the same conditions).

M+K controls remained responsive.

I have just experienced this bug.
I have disabled Steam controller support but new batteries so I wont be back for awhile to give my results

Unfortunately having the same problem. Controller randomly disconnects at some point, won't reconnect, and the game crashes and I lose the run, pretty heartbreaking! The only way I could get my (PS4) controller working was to disable steam deck, so maybe that has something to do with it,

Hm, sounds like an issue with the PC's connection? I have covered the solution to this in my personal blog at GameScopes.com and can provide up to 7 unique solutions!

Here's a link if you wish to check it out:

https://gamescopes.com/hades-2-not-detecting-controller-get-it-connected-now/

Here are the solutions from the guide:

Configure Hades 2’s Controller Layout
Enable “Steam Input” for Hades 2
Reset Hades 2’s “Controls” Settings
Reconnect the Controller From Steam
Restart Hades 2 and the Steam Client
Inspect the Controller’s PC Connection
Install DS4Windows On your PC

Hope you've found a fix to your issue!

Unfortunately, this is not an issue with the PC's connection...

If you switch to a different window... or even another game, you can turn the controller back on, and it stays on. The instant you give Hades the focus, the controller shuts itself off. It's like Hades 2 is instructing Windows to turn off the controller. It's obviously a bug in the game.

still doing it for me too, sadly. battery died on controller.. replaced them and instantly it turned off controller.. tried it 3-4 times then alt tabbed and it works perfectly (the controller) clicked game again it turns it off.

only solution is to quit game and load it again. it's annoying tbh.

Yeah, especially when you have a really good run going. I forgot about the bug, and paused it to do something else for awhile... since you can't save... came back, and the run was ruined.

I am terrible with the keyboard, so I had no hope of going far.

This issue is fixed for me in the latest patch v0.90912 (using an Xbox controller via USB wireless dongle).

seems to work for me too, testing by removing battery while the game was loaded, was able to put back battery, turn on controller and it did not turn off.

hope it sticks!

Yes, it’s also still present for the first Hades game on windows 10 using an Xbox controller.
Same issue here on MacOS (Macbook Air - M1) over bluetooth (8BitDo Ultimate 2C).

Has ruined about 3 runs so-far.

This is funnily also happening with TESV:Skyrim... It's pretty annoying especially when other third party software doesn't work... On top of being on a SteamDeck, the whole "steamdeck=0" command breaks Xbox controllers in some games. I'd love to see Microsoft come up with a solution to this as it *is* a little irritating, just in the slightest... Since my keyboard broke I have to hit the Xbox button before the controller turns off and it'll be fine... And then I head over to "Settings" and "General" and then "Change more settings in the Settings App", which let's me close out of the game.............. Because Steam Input says everything's fine.

Another funny thing is THIS ISN'T STEAM'S FAULT I don't think. Back when my keyboard was still working I could Shift Tab and control the menu with the controller, although it freezes the game's internal "Gamepad detected" script so I can't do anything but go into Steam through that means and shut off the entire game (cuz it ALSO turns off the keyboard for me, the only buttons that work are the F# keys and the arrow keys.

To maybe help, has anyone else tried on Big Picture mode? Maybe disabling the drivers? Maybe that'll help?

Either way I don't know the solution and I wish I did...
I had it happen with FFXIV as well, but it went away. I thought it might have something to do with the fact that I use a Razor Tartarus. That registers itself as a controller too. But, unplugging it didn't fix that.
same issue not game specific, been encountering it for a few months now, its not the controller, batteries, or driver, firmware tested on 3 different wireless xbox series x controllers with numerous batteries with everything updated, even tried another microsoft xbox dongle and different usb ports
