Arachne absolutely annoys me

First: I love this game, really! I fell in love with the first part and on the first day the second was available, I got it. And even though it is "only" early access, it has so much to offer, and I can't wait to see the path to Olympus and finish the storyline!

However, one thing that truly annoys me is Arachne's character. Unlike the other punished souls in the first Hades, she doesn't show remorse for mocking the gods and thus being turned into a spider.
IT. WAS. HER. OWN. FAULT.
She has no right to be so bitter and hateful towards the gods, when it was her pride that caused her situation. With everyone else, there was some kind of redemption arc. Either before or during the game play, no matter which part. But with her it doesn't feel she'll ever understand that it was her fault, that mocking and insulting someone can cause trouble, and if it wasn't for the armour, I wouldn't go to her.

I really really wish she would let go of her bitterness and resentment, and that she will have some form of development in the future, because she reminds me of this typical “Oh, what is this? The consequences of my actions?”-Karen.

In some versions of the myth, Arachne wasnt punished for beating Athena, she was punished for both gloating about it and being rather rude (if accurate) about the gods less than pleasant antics. If she had kept her gob shut after winning, she probably would have got away with it, but she gloated and rubbed it in Athena's face that she was better while the goddess was still in the room. That is what we call a Darwin award level of utter boneheaded stupidity considering that her tapestry depicted the fates as a number of morons who had similarly pissed off the gods woven into it.

History is told by the winner, so of course some versions of it would have Arachne looking like the idiot. But the games choose to focus in on the personality flaws of the Olympians themselves, who Zag and Mel have plenty of history with, rather than on those of some poor effing girl who got in the way of their egos. Personally, I think that makes for a better story in both the mythology and the game.

I mean just take a look at Zeus. He’s as much the god of lightning as he is the god of turning into random animals and seducing mortal women, who then get punished by Hera because she can’t stop her husband from being a total manwhore

wth are you talking about dude. the gods were jealous that she was the best at something, as they always are with mortals. they're capricious, jealous, and bitter all the time. all of their punishments come from personal offense rather than actual morals. imagine being on the side of olympus on any of these.

But I thought I would add in: The Gods used to Punish people all the time for dumb stuff...you realize that Echo was punished for the Gods was a dumb reason and also isn't remorseful for what she did right?? Like Hera punished Echo FOR TALKING TOO MUCH!! Thats it! Thats all Echo got punished for, and then while only having the ability to Echo others words back to them....she tried to pursue Narcissus but because of her Cure she couldn't win him over.... So he rejected her cruelly and Aphrodite punished him for breaking Echos heart to fall in love with his own reflection.... YOU REALIZE HOW DUMB THAT IS RIGHT?! Both of them were Curse BY THE GODS for ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥!! Just like Arachne being Curse for just being better than a God at something... It is a Literally common thing in Mythology about the Greek gods that they were known to be Vain and full of themselves AND IM SAYING THIS AS A PAGAN!!!

Neither Echo or Narcissus Feel BAD About the things they did that got them cursed... Sure Narcissus spends time with Echo after you HAVE TO CONVINCE HIM TO DO IT BECAUSE HIS WATER IS DIRTY (he literally would not have left if the water stayed clean) which he goes back to ONCE ITS CLEAN AGAIN because he doesn't feel bad he Rejected Echo! He feels bad that We Blame Him for her State and That his water isn't clean!! ....and Echo also doesn't feel bad about "Talking too much"...she was heart broken from being rejected thats it...and you notice she also stays cursed

Aaaaactually, Echo was punished because she distracted Hera while Zeus did Zeus things, not for talking to much. She was a motormouth, but thats not what she got punished for. Now, you could argue that her punishment was disproportional, but Hera is a petty, vengeful ♥♥♥♥♥.

In the new update Narcissius inquires how Echo is doing again and is encouraged to venture down to talk to her a second time. This looks like the extent of the quest for the Olympus update though

Good News: Olympus update progresses Arachne's story. Pretty sure the most updated part is Hecate knows who put the curse on Arachne and Arachne says she wants time to "think it over" before talking to Hecate. Athena's pretty set on the intent being justified though dialogue shows she might change her intent and think Arachne suffers too much

The shade who is in your room and helps you customize (Dora) is Pandora . The most updated part of the story is crafting incantation for her to have her mortal memories back (though the ingredients haven't been included in the game right now)
