Hades II

Poseidon Problems
Am I the only one that finds most of his boons underwhelming? Knock back is neat and all but most times I'll take almost anything else, just like in the first game.

Passive abilities are great.

Depending on build, splash back on a ranged attack is great for playing keep away in the mob heavy rooms.

And dash boon is super strong/easy to use.

I'd prefer getting at least two curses first tho.

Poseidon is one of if not the strongest, imo. The flat damage is really good.

The damage may be good, but knock back has almost always felt like a hindrance to me rather than the enemies.

Honestly has probably been my favorite in Hades and the same is true in Hades II so far.

Posiedon sucks unless you're going for special waves on the staff

Shocked at this post because as already mentioned.... Posiedon is amazing.

Poseidon is good you just need to unlearn hades 1 and learn hades 2, right now there not really that many god builds so you can’t just pick whatever boon shows up and face roll everything. You have to learn the utility of the boons to use them properly there not a lot of straight heavy damage dealing abilities.

He's significantly better than he was in the first game, and certainly not an auto-ignore or anything like that. I'm still not a fan of boons that are just "here's a bunch of items/gold" being around as they feel like kind of a waste, but the rest of his stuff is pretty decent.

Clearly you've never done a surfing run with magick regen.

To add to what I said before. PSA. The double minor find boon....

It obviously works on the health upgrade (+50!). The little ones in the fields.

And also, Selene lol. Path of star clear in a single stroke.

Anything that hits fast is going to benefit. Anything the staff does, anything the daggers do, anything the torches do, the axe omega attack, or the skull omega special all benefit nicely from his flat bonus damage.

His mana regen is good, his sprint is good, and Slip is a very good curse. Double Up can also double health and mana pickups, which again is good.

passives are great
everything else sucks
there are lots of better cast options, better attack options, and other trees don't have the filler stuff like gold

I really think people just need to give it more time. The boons all seem fine. Keep in mind that not all boons are supposed to be good for every situation. Like many Roguelike/lite games, some things are best in certain situations with certain weapons / builds. That's why there is a lot of seemingly "useless" boons. Not all of them are supposed to make you stronger every single time, that would become pretty stale pretty fast. You have to learn the boons, and your loadouts and pick accordingly. Sometimes it won't work out either. That's just the nature of the genre.

I have not, but have thought about a dash based build. How does a surfing run usually go for you?

Poseidon was mid as hell in the first game but probably the best out of all of them in this one. Flat damage is so, so good. Slip is good, his sprint boon is good, spirit bubbles are excellent. He might genuinely be the best out of all of them, with Demeter and Zeus being contenders.
