Hades II
Last boss forces the game to un-pause. First time boss kill run was ruined by controller dying.
The last boss doesnt let you pause the game. He just says "cute" remarks and forces the game to unpause. I had no way to recover. I tried maneuvering with the keyboard but I couldnt dodge.
I eventually got the controller to turn back on after 2 full deaths, but the game wouldnt let me dodge with either the keyboard buttons or the controller. Either that was a bug, or he takes your buttons away if you try to pause the game.

Im going to bed. I dont have it in me to spend another 40 minutes getting there to try again. Not worth it after that awful situation.

I think a lot of his designed is to kill you once, then never again.

His phase two map wide AOE for example. Its yellow instead of red, so it doesn't trigger the same mental response as every other AOE in the game.

and the chronos boss fight was designed around the lack of pause. what are you missing here?

Alright, i guess I need to hold your hand through this.

How much progress do you lose when you die at any given moment in dark souls?

Minutes.

...you've never actually played dark souls.

I have 100%d every dark souls, elden ring, sekiro, and hades 2.

Then you're lying to the other guy just to make an argument. Which is worse.

This is what "designed around" means. Death in dark souls is significantly less punishing than in Hades, because in Hades you're starting the entire game over and in dark souls you're only starting a sliver of it over.
actually in a lot of dark souls boss fights you get put back to a bonfire miles away with a tonne of enemies so you actually do lose a significant amount of time. this is annoying and punishing and that is the test. chronos is designed to be annoying and punishing because he's an evil piece of crap and he literally has the powers of time. you're meant to lose all that progress and then know for next time not to do it. just like when you die to a new boss you lose all that progress and know for next time. you learn what weapons are good and bad, what boons are good and bad, what strats are good and bad. you will lose precisely one run to the lack of pause because after that one run you can use and incantation to disable it. better yet, alt tab and you can still pause the game so you actually lose zero time to it.

wrap it up boys, this guy has already 100% hades 2 even though all the content isn't released for the game yet. this guy clearly has either time travel powers or is on the dev team and is so much more intelligent than us

I didn't even notice that. lol he's probably lying about souls too.

Seriously, one of the biggest complaints about souls is how long it takes to get back to a boss. Which is why they made it so much easier in Elden Ring lol

Nope. Actually most bonfires are really close, with only an encounter or two in between. If you sprint, you're going to get to the fog door in like 2 minutes max.

As much as people like to jerk themselves off for playing it, dark souls is a mainstream franchise with completion rates comparable to any other game.

Pause is not a game mechanic you're using to fight chronos. Him disabling pause is an entirely different conversation to the process of learning how to fight Chronos.

Uh, no. This is just wrong. You do not get the incantation after one fight with Chronos. You get it after using *three* of the resource he drops, which you only get from *killing* him.

And for the record, I have the incantation unlocked. I've killed him like a dozen time. I'm still able to use the logical part of my brain to understand it's a bad mechanic for people with actual responsibilities (maybe you don't have these, so it's not a problem) rather than latching onto every trivial reason you can find to feel superior to others.

Which dark souls games have you actually played? Clearly not 1 or 2. You say you've unlocked the incantation which means there's no need to cry anymore go enjoy your game now that you've finally unlocked the hardest skill in the game

Yes, I have 100%d dark souls 1 and 2. All solo, melee only. You're not part of some elite club for playing or enjoying dark souls. They're mainstream games designed to be beaten.

The fact that I've unlocked the incantation doesn't make the mechanic not bad.

Just like Chronos is designed to be beaten in one go with no pauses. I have a saying for you that will be all too familiar: git gud

They aren't going to change it. Seethe.
to the whingers wanting this funny to be removed: you already have the means in the game via a certain incantation to stop Chronos from unpausing the game
