Last boss forces the game to un-pause. First time boss kill run was ruined by controller dying.
The last boss doesnt let you pause the game. He just says "cute" remarks and forces the game to unpause. I had no way to recover. I tried maneuvering with the keyboard but I couldnt dodge.
I eventually got the controller to turn back on after 2 full deaths, but the game wouldnt let me dodge with either the keyboard buttons or the controller. Either that was a bug, or he takes your buttons away if you try to pause the game.

Im going to bed. I dont have it in me to spend another 40 minutes getting there to try again. Not worth it after that awful situation.

I sort of expect this to be changed to Chronos just making a cheeky little remark about it instead of force-unpausing your game, but in the meanwhile, if you really need the game to freeze while you're fighting Chronos, alt-tab out of it after you've paused.

Neat ideas that are not fun should not be in games. Not allowing pauses is a neat idea but that one time someone calls your or the doorbell rings or you have to take a big ♥♥♥♥ it's suddenly not so fun

Somehow I feel like, had this mechanic been done in any decade prior to this one, people would have been like this is awesome.

The boss is about 5 minutes long. If you can't focus for 5 minutes without interruptions then you probably shouldn't be playing games. the argument is that you might have to step away urgently or a family problem or emergency come up but realistically how often is that ever going to happen? I feel like this is just really pedantic for the sake of it.

Not to mention. Ops controller died.

I've had controllers die on me mid games too. I just died because of that. It happens.

This is probably true. I think the gaming industry at large has realised that convenience trumps most other considerations. It's why we went from games with crafting where you don't even get to see the recipes to games that automatically let you take items from any container in the game just by choosing the recipe from a menu.

Things that take time but aren't fun or value added get stripped out because at the end of the day they don't add to the level of enjoyment. It's not fun spending 10 minutes in menus and moving items around just to craft an item and it's not fun losing a run because of a gimmick that doesn't actually add anything to the gameplay.

It has nothing to do with focus, did you even read the OPs post?

People have different life situations. Just because it's not a problem for you doesn't mean it's not a problem for everyone else. If you have a few kids 5 minutes is more than enough time to get interrupted.

Controllers dying definitely happens but how often is it going to happen specifically in the final 5 minutes of a 40+ minute run? The odds are pretty low.

OP lost a run because his controllers ran out of batteries.

What's gonna happen when he plays a video game that doesn't auto pause when that happens?

Just use a wired controller if it means so much for you to take a L.

Also not even gonna comment on your random crafting rant.

Do you play Dark Souls and complain that you can't pause because your kids are crying? No, I imagine you would simply either not play the game anymore or if you like it enough you would find a way to adapt. Do the same for the last 5 minutes of your run.

it is awesome, always has been. There werent pause in games like pacman, tectris, snake or flappy bird back in the day. If you got something up in real life you just up and leave and then come back another time to start over again. This game is very tame in contrast, they still let you pause the final boss after your first encounter with him. This generation of Roblox gamers is just pure joke honestly.

I appreciate what they're trying to do on a meta narrative but it's just a bad user experience. I first paused because, well, the weather's been warm, and I'd been intensely playing the game, so my palms were sweaty which made my controller sweaty which made it harder to play. So, time to pause the game, dry my palms, clean my controller... Wait, what?

And, yeah, other stuff can happen that needs you to pause, too. Like a cat trying to eat a plant or s/t. Or a sudden call or many other things that can happen without notice.

He might. Lolol
Hell, I remember people complaining about sekiro too. It's like. Dude.

And those games are clearly designed that way from the get go...and people still complain.

Here we have a random, thematic gimmick that's pretty cool. And people getting excessively upset with it. This is why a lot of devs don't try cool ♥♥♥♥.

Unrelated but I remember killing floor 2 did something with a camera shift and people got so angry so they finally added a toggle cause people just couldn't adapt.

Not fun to you, not to everyone. The thrill of figuring things yourself was what made games like Minecraft popular back in days. And the fact features like that get removed in favor of lazy gaming is why no one play crafting survival games anymore.

LMAO of all the reasons you need pause is because you cat might eat a plant??? You have to be trolling. Move your plants before playing and stop whining.
