Report a translation problem
Did you just meet the boss or did you have to actually beat him? If thats the case, thats fine, but i do wish they'd made that more clear in the patch notes because it makes it seem like they added him into the full game and not with conditions. anyway, thanks for the reply i appreciate it.
I'm already pretty far in the game, beaten underworld and the third boss from the surface, still working on beating the new one.
I am not really sure what the requirements are, but since the only difference between our saves is beating Prometheus, maybe that could be trigger. I'd say that I doubt that this serves as a requirement, but 20 runs without running into Ares means that there could be a requirement, or (really) bad luck on your side.
In any case, I can confirm: he appeared on my second run after updating my game, on the surface.

Yeah, after reading the above comments, I remember also reaching the final boss, but didn't beat him. Afterwards Ares was the first boon on my next run.
If I do end up finding him before hand (or after) I'll update just in case anyone else goes looking for this answer.
