can't unlock hecuba

i have around 500 hours and i still haven't been able to unlokc hecuba. I've finished runs with all other familiars but cant seem to trigger hecate to unlock hecuba.
Is there something im doing wrong?

Have you encountered Hecuba the 5 or so times needed in Echo's room in Fields of Morning? I had to do Underworld runs over a dozen times before I met the doggy enough to move the process along to Hecate afterwards.

After talking to Hecate, I can no longer find Hecuba in the echos room

i really hope they make it a tad easier? the cat was straightforward, frinos you got from the beginning, but the "find the familiar here, finish the run, go the opposite route to find it again, but wait! now go the route as before then you might possibly maybe find the familiar again!" is a bit tedious at best

i think you're overthinking this. i don't remember how it was with the bird (i think somewhere in erebus), but unlocking the cat and the dog both worked in the same, simple way for me. as far as i can tell, you literally just need to encounter them in the same room (the docks after polyphemus for the cat and the end of echo's room for the dog) on two separate runs each. the first time you interact for a greeting and the second time you need to have a morsel with you to give to them. it didn't seem to me that there were any other conditions that needed to be met, you just need to have the luck to have them show up on any given run.

The unlock conditions for dog and bird only seem tedious because you've already advanced pretty far through the game.

meh, I have 100 hours... if they make them available when you get frinos, then sure, that'd be fine... but that's what I meant by making it "easier" by not waiting to unlock them

Like others have said, it may seen tedious for those who are already way ahead into the game.

Starting from scratch it'll come as naturally as Toula.

The only "trick" is that you have to actually bond with the bird first before bonding with Hecuba.

But the bird you find on Erebus at the fountain room a place which you'll cross many times (even though it is a bit RNG related) anyway and then Hecuba at Echo's room.

Overall I don't expect them to be any harder or take longer than Toula (which you need to randomly find twice underworld and then once surface).

I'm having the same issue. I do see Hecuba almost every time, but no conversation with Hecate yet. I've maxed out all the others, taken them out for runs to both underworld and surface, even talked to Hecuba with each of them. Not sure what's up.

+1 , had multiple conversations with hecuba at the Echo-Site and now hecuba doesn't have an explamation mark over her head BUT: there is no new conversation with hecate at the crossroads.
I'm not sure but could it be a problem if you had all conversations with the hound before getting the raven?
Otherwise i'm not sure what to do, as i did multiple runs and hecuba always showed up in echos room, i interacted with the hound but nothing happened/i couldn't talk to Hecate.

Yes, in all my interactions with hecuba i had the morsels in my inventory.
As said, with the raven it was no problem, as soon as i read that i need him first i made me way to the raven in Erebus and got him. But at that point i already had all the hecuba dialog options through, so i don't know if that was the problem.

Honestly I haven't unlocked Hecuba either. I was already 300 hours in when she became available, so most runs lately have been to the surface. Though that being said now that I have Pro on 32 fear farm I have been doing 32 fear runs below with every weapon for completions sake. I will edit comment if I recruit her and anything I noticed being done to enable it.

I actually unlocked Hecuba today. Didn't seem to be anything special to it either. I think it is just talk to her X times in Echo's chamber and eventually you recruit her instead of petting her.
