Hades II

Hades II

What's the general consensus on Ares?
For the life of me, I can't get a good build with this guy. His support boons seem good, but I haven't been able to exploit wound in any meaningful way. I'm wondering how good others find him to be. I haven't really found anyone saying anything about it except for Blood Drop, which is clearly good, as I always pick it.

1. Blood Drop
2. Meat Grinder. Omega Cast spinny blades. Lasts longer than most Cast. Good damage.
3. Blood Spree is helpful for staying alive especially if playing daggers. But maybe increase the limit with level would be nice. Cause staying at 40HP only still means you can get 1 shotted by Spawns.

Dislikes:
His other boons are just like boosters. Coffin Nail, Cutting Edge, etc but still lacking.

Overall, for me, aint too bad. Some boons could use a bit of tweaking.

But my BIGGEST dislike about Ares is the choice of DAMAGE INDICATOR.
All Ares boon damages deal RED numbers. Even though its a slightly darker shade, in the heat of battle, it sometimes makes me think I took damage and then I start to panic a little.
With the whole screen covered with mobs and bullets, seeing RED numbers isnt a good thing since all this time, it has always been an indicator of DMG taken, not dealt.

I've found Wounds to be useful, and it's a debuff that helps proc Origination. Profuse Bleeding can get you blood drops and Grievous Wounds ups the damage. The rift blade on Omega Cast is nice.

Don't care for the falling blade boons. They take too long to fall without Hephaestus' duo in my experience. The cast feels weak compared to other boons that do damage to foes in the cast.

I actually think Blood Spree should either be massively reworked or the limit should be lowered to 20 or less.
Reason? Frosty Veneer. And Blod Drops.
With Ares Legendary your attack speed increases quite quickly, so you will soon be recovering HP faster than you lose, unless you are killed in 1 hit or a very unlucky series of hits under around .3 seconds. With Frosty Veneer you can't be killed instantly at 40 HP.
Even without it I facetanked Typhon by relying on Tough Gain.
Sure, there are other OP combos, and Frosty Veneer is OP in general, but when you can become immortal by relying only on 2 gods it is too good to stay in game IMO.

He's wonderful on weapons with lower damage output and rapid fire. Mutual Destruction is my favorite to grab because with a massive pool of hp he starts destroying enemies and I mean it's on ALL DAMAGE BOONS. You're sitting there and one fully charged omega suddenly hits for 4x more damage.

I enjoy the Mortal Gain when it's slightly upgraded with palm fruits and my Mana is about 175 as a sweet spot. All together he takes more to put together and definitely goes with Hestia, Zeus, and Demeter's multi-hit boons.

Once you get Wounds on something, he may give you two boons that let you deal twice damage on the foe with the Wound. Haven't calculated the exact dmg numbers, but it does feel good to see the numbers going ridiculously high if I have Total Eclipse and/or some critical chance on that run.

+ Wounds is an easy Curse to apply
+ Sort of a fusion between a percentage and on-hit bonus—versatile! Works on main- or off-action
+ Blood drops are great
+ Weirdly specific duo requirements (sounds like a negative, but you can splash him without risking getting duos you don't want
- Percentage damage scales poorly with level
- The sword abilities aren't bad but awkward to use, scale
- Awkward utility and generic damage bonuses
- CRAZY difficult-to-active Infusion

Ares is a real jack-of-all trades, master of none kinda God... His Legendary and Duos are insane, though.

Between him and a Hermes boon got a +330% attack speed bonus on the final surface fight. that was pretty great.
Yeah, excellent god. I guess we should expect nerfs in the next update, but to me he seems pretty well made from the off. Meat Grinder will surely change, however; you can build it towards absurd carnage at the moment, and the enemy AI isn't set to avoid casts (aside from characters like Ares and Prometheus, who would be leaping around regardless of whether you were hitting them with casts or not). To get the most out of him, you're probably going to focus on his boons to the exclusion of others, and that seems like a good trade-off to me.
He's OP, 95% he's getting a nef in an upcoming patch. It's consistent damage if you go deep on him and if not it's a decent addition. Since he has option to go both small damage through blood drops and big damage amplifiers with his own form of crit when wounded makes him very versatile. I got to 1400 damage procs with the axe omega attacks against Typhon and his tail, Thanatos aspect iirc.

Frosty Veneer.

Spawn rate for this boon seems oddly low. Getting it requires loving from RNGesus and thats provided you have enough Water element as well.
But yes, definitely agree, this is an OP boon. Demeter has some really sick boons.

what I'd love is if he showed up more. I've beaten the last boss twice and he's shown up once!
