Hades II

Hades II

Higher Fear = Less Boons?
So I don't have a spreadsheet or anything for this but going off of my impressions, does anybody else feel like the more oaths they take the less boons they get throughout runs? I just made my way to the Fields of Mourning before I found my second boon.

This is by far the longest I've gone with a single boon offered without going into Charon's shop but I have definitely had a fair number of runs where I get a single boon room even going through the entirety of Erebus.

If anybody else has experienced this, could this be a hidden difficulty slider that scales with the amount of fear you take in your runs?

Yesterday I've done a couple of runs with 32 fear and, yes, I had very few boons. Aggravated by the fact that I chose the fear that turns every first boon in an onion.

So... Not only I've found very few boons, four of them were discarded by default.

I don't think so, unless you use "Vow of Bitterness".
P.S. "Artificer" arkana might help.

Although I have done runs with Vow of Bitterness, it's one of the ones I least like to take just because it removes fun from the game (not especially punishing, just very unfun).

I've had a good number of runs with fear 20-26 where I am getting single boons throughout Erebus and several where it's repeated in Oceanus. I just decided to make the post when I had a single boon by the time I got to the Mourning Fields, which seems excessively punishing and is just raising suspicion.

I am not going to believe my luck is so bad where this is repeatedly an issue. I'd suspect it's a hidden aspect of the game but I wanted to see if anyone could say whether or not if they've noticed similar patterns with high fear runs. Perhaps I have just had a string of bad luck but I doubt it.

I plan to make 32 fear run(s) soon, will pay attention for that.

After doing number of 32 fear runs i get the same feeling of finding far less boons than on lower difficulty. Also i wonder how it is with changing rewards. Numerous times i changed boon into mana / hp or pom but never managed to changed those into a boon.

I never even try to change those type of rewards because a chance to get boon seems so small, almost non-existent.

I don't usually take the reward changes, but if it is like the first Hades, there are categories of rewards that are separated between boons and resources where you can only change the rewards laterally; ergo, you cannot make resource rooms re-rolled into boon rooms (or hex/ hammer).

The only re-rolls I will take are the reward re-rolls. I tried the room re-rolls a few times and they appear to work the same as in the first game.

Having just cleared 32 both down and up, it...didn't feel that different? Honestly got offered most of the core parts of what I wanted most of the time. If anything, it felt more likely to get offered the good stuff than in Hades 1. But if you mean certain bleh stuff like Ash/Psyche showing up when you wanted something way better, for sure. I think that's the tradeoff for not losing choices in most Fear builds.

I do the first boon is onion one. I once had somehow only got two zeus boons even with the zeus trinket once at fear 16. Still won because I rarified the storm cast omega boon and get an upgrade or two on it. So if you get the right stuff you can win some pretty intense challenges with even a single boon. But some boons are certainly pumping out far more dps than others
